Learn more our Care Pair Model! RN and CNA pair that collaborate to in caring for 5-6 patients as a team. The two-way communication of this pair allowed us to see increased staff and patient satisfaction. The lower patient ratios for our CNAs allowed them to have more time to care for their patients by allowing them more time to provide for activities of daily living (e.g. bathing, ambulation, etc.). The staff did not have to feel rushed to go from room to room which is different when they have 12-15 patients on a shift. When observed in action, you can see how more coordinated their day was. By setting up the day with report and two-way communication, the RN is able to rely on the CNA to ensure that turns, bathing and feeding is getting done, which is less stress on their day and they are able to focus on their role as an RN to assess and carry out orders as they come. This model not only improved staff and patient satisfaction but the team also saw and increase in quality data with regards to CHG bathing and also saw the decrease in number of call lights activated and how long they were activated for.
