It has been approved by the State of Washington as an equivalent to an MA-C program at a community or technical college. The program: Is a registered apprenticeship program through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. Is governed by an Apprenticeship Committee of 50% employer and 50% MA representatives. Is administered through the Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers. Trains students in the specific skills required to achieve the MA-C credential, as outlined in RCW 18.360 and WAC 246-827. Curriculum is approved by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. As a part of the MA Apprenticeship Program, Apprentices will: Complete 2000 hours of on-the-job training (paid) with the support and guidance of an experienced one-on-one MA coach Complete 364 hours of supplemental coursework (unpaid). Able to provide proof of 7.0 HIV/AIDS training from WA State DOH-approved training provider. Able to provide proof of up-to-date First Aid and CPR training. Have the time and resources to devote to the online coursework, lab days, and documentation associated with the program. Specific requirements include: Ability to spend at least 5 hours per week on online coursework for a full year. This time is unpaid and outside of normal work hours. What you’ll do Clinical Care: Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing (COVID, flu, strep, glucose, A1C, UA, etc.), assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy. Insurance Verification & Front Desk: Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, and maintain EMR accuracy. Patient Service: Educate patients on both clinical procedures and financial expectations, provide clear discharge instructions, and de-escalate concerns with empathy and professionalism. Team & Compliance: Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs (crash cart, fridge temps, etc.), support infection-control and HIPAA standards. What We’re Looking For Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire. At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting). Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued. EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar). Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills. Additional requirements Must successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check as a condition of employment. Full availability including ability to work evenings/weekends and float to nearby centers as needed. Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS through the America Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
  • Experience in physician office or other healthcare setting preferred.
  • For NJ Only : Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes, at a minimum, 330 hours of instruction and encompasses training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
  • For internal Einstein applicants only : Medical Assistant certification is not required if a current Einstein employee in a current Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.
