Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The hourly base pay for this position is $16 per hour. Work Schedule: The work schedule for this position is part-time, 10-20 hours per week between Monday-Friday 7am-5pm. Perform venipuncture and basic laboratory tests and work with contracted labs for additional tests Assist with medical procedures Utilize diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment (e.g. O2 therapy, EKG, etc.) Keep exam rooms clean, disinfected and stocked with supplies needed for examinations Administrative: Maintains patient flow in accordance scheduling and incoming / outgoing calls Help coordinate specialist visits, referrals, and other care outside of the clinic Retrieves messages and responds to calls from patients, pharmacies, and other medical offices as delegated by physician Fulfill medical record requests and abstraction Make the medical visit a positive and supportive experience for each patient QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma required plus graduation from a formal training program and 2+ years' experience preferred as an LPN / Medical Assistant, ideally in primary care. Current BLS certification and nursing license to practice in the state for which you are applying if applicable. Must be able to give injections, complete EKGs, and perform other office-based procedures. Must have exceptional phlebotomy skills. Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Medical Lab Supervisor oversees and participates in all departmental responsibilities for comprehensive laboratory testing for patients. This includes ensuring patients' laboratory results are accurate and timely. Has the ability to prioritize and remain calm and organized in a high stress, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • "Analyzes patient, control and proficiency testing specimens and records results in a timely manner according to laboratory policy.
  • Coordinates quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the department.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains a laboratory of constant readiness.
  • Ensures all departmental policies and procedures are kept up to date.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
  • Instructs, orients and mentors students, employees, residents, patients and other health care providers as applicable.
  • Completes continuing education and submits appropriate documentation where applicable.
  • Oversees calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting and quality control for instrument issues in addition to the review and management of the appropriate documentation.
  • Performs all necessary management tasks for the department. - Performs HR duties including interviewing, hiring, counseling and corrective action.
  • Performs product preparations in compliance with CLIA, FDA, cGMP, AABB standards, NRC regulations and department procedures.
  • Provides oversight for the review and correlation of results to each other and with the patient's condition, recognizing abnormal results and critical/alert values.
  • Verifies accuracy of results and initiates corrective action when indicated.
  • The employee may be required to float to other locations throughout the organization.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate of Science
  • High School Graduate

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science
  • 1 or more years large hospital experience: Academic experience

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP)
  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP)
