Communicates with the attending physician and other members of the healthcare team to establish rapport and ensure a collaborative planned approach for the donation discussion and authorization process. Will communicate directly with donor families, hospital personnel, physicians and DNW staff. Obtains authorization for donation per UAGA and verifies appropriate medical and legal documentation necessary for organ recovery consistent with DNW policy and procedure. Completes the Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI) with appropriate historian per DNW policy and procedure and obtains follow-up information if required. Visually assesses donors, interpret charts, document information and communicate findings. Collaborates with hospital and medical staff to provide potential donor families with accurate and timely information regarding the patient’s current clinical course. Maintains communication with hospital staff and attending physician regarding the potential donor family’s understanding of the prognosis and acts as a family advocate to the health care team as necessary. Provides education and relevant materials to hospital staff on the authorization and family process as well as the benefits of organ and tissue donation and services provided by Donor Network West to grieving families. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners. Collaborates with hospital staff to provide bereavement support as applicable. Collaborates with hospital staff to obtain administrative authorization when appropriate. Provides education to hospital staff regarding authorization, family care process and donation process. Triage & Vital Signs: Perform triage and take vital signs accurately. Documenting Patient History: Obtain and document detailed patient history in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in a timely manner. Lab Specimens: Collect routine laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and oral swabs. Medication & Injections: Administer medications and non-intravenous injections, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections. Clinical Procedures: Start IVs, place catheters, and perform splinting when necessary. Clinical & Laboratory Procedures: Perform basic clinical, aseptic, and laboratory procedures to support patient care. Occupational Medicine: Assist with our Occupational Medicine services, including drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and pulmonary function testing, while adhering to company protocols. Compliance: Enforce and maintain healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA compliance. Administrative Duties: Perform office procedures and general administrative tasks; proficiently operate office medical equipment. Quality Assurance: Oversee compliance with quality assurance programs, CLIA waived laboratory requirements, and patient result trackers. Travel Requirement: Support staffing and operational needs by traveling to other Prisma Health Urgent Care locations as required. Required Qualifications: Certification: Must be certified or registered as a Paramedic, Advanced-EMT or Medical Assistant through an accredited organization (e.g., AMT for RMA/NHA or AAMA for CMA). Job Details:

This position performs in both the clinical and clerical functions of the clinic. The Medical Assistant position performs routine clinical skills for patient care, which includes taking vital signs, weight, height, and assisting with procedures, as needed. The Medical Assistant is responsible for documenting in EPIC, ensuring that all needed documentation is complete in time for the provider to dictate a note and close an encounter in an expedient manner. The Medical Assistant is responsible for patient flow, chaperoning, stocking of rooms, ordering of tests and supplies. This position is also responsible for appropriate service delegated by the RN, nurse practitioner, or physician. Interacts with other department personnel to maintain timely patient flow to provide appropriate care and quality customer service.
