Position Description As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing menu items according to company policies, procedures, programs, and performance standards. In addition, you will perform all duties to maximize guest satisfaction and a quality work environment as directed Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty. Responsibilities: Reports to work well groomed, in a clean and proper uniform, and at all times practices good personal hygiene. Uses, maintains, and cleans all kitchen line equipment, plus preparation and storage areas. Stocks and rotates products on cooking line. Has sufficient knowledge of cooking stations, menu items and prep procedures to ensure correct portioning, quality, cooking time and performance standards. Cooks and prepares menu items according to guest request within company standards and following food safety and sanitation procedures. Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce the incidence of risk factors known to cause food borne illness. Anticipates, identifies and corrects system breakdowns to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. Job Description

WORK TO BE PERFORMED:

  • Greet customers, receive food orders, repeat food orders, charge the appropriate price for each menu item ordered by customers, receive the correct amount tendered by customers and provide the correct change for each transaction. 
  • Be able to enact gift cards requested by customers.
  • Be very familiar with and up to date with California Fish Grill Restaurant’s menu and prices.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
  • Ability to make corrections to customer orders in a fast and efficient manner.
  • Ability to determine counterfeit money and respond to situations involving counterfeit money. 
  • Assure age requirements are verified prior to serving alcoholic beverages.  
  • Treat all customers in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. 
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean at all times
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned

  • Confidentiality of all data, including guest credit card information.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

  • Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years related work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • Prior experience in related to cashier or food service positions
  • Valid ServSafe® or other approved Food Handler Certification
  • High level of integrity and honesty

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Restaurant environment.   When warranted, may be required to work beyond normal working hours as needed to meet customer needs or restaurant requirements.
