Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Travel daily to customer sites to perform troubleshooting, hands-on repairs, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and installation of new equipment. Provide Remote Technical Support to assigned Top customers. Provide start-up support for end-users who receive a new machine from an OEM with a Nordson Packaging system. Complete Corrective Action Reports for all Warranty issues. Conduct formal and informal training classes. Complete accurate service reports/service tickets after customer visits in a timely manner. Responsible for auditing, documenting and updating customer installed base line survey information for our database. Report any customer complaints about our equipment performance to assigned Field Service Supervisor. Participate in joint visits with the sales team, Field Service Supervisor, and other internal team members to assist with sales opportunities or voice of customer information gathering. Upsell customers on aftermarket parts or services (eg TrueBlue PM Program). Participate in ongoing training of our products. Education and Experience Requirements College degree in a Technical Program. Skills and Abilities Strong Mechanical & electrical knowledge/understanding. Strong knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulic systems/components. Strong ability to read and understand manuals, parts lists, component drawings, dimensional drawings, hydraulic & pneumatic schematics, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with using common tools and equipment (i.e. Multi-Meter). Comfortable working with hi-temp, hi-pressure, and hi-voltage equipment (240VAC - 480VAC). Comfortable working onsite alone with tools to assist customers. Comfortable with upselling customers on new products and technologies. Effective clear concise oral & written communication skills. Home office space. Excellent computer knowledge: MS Office, Outlook, MS Teams, Concur, SAP, SAP C4C, Concur etc. Available to travel ~75% of the time. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Working conditions will vary based on the location and nature of the customer. Working conditions are those typical to light and heavy industrial settings and will include moderate to high noise levels and temperature extremes. While performing assigned duties, the FST is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk, climb steps, cross roller conveyors, and reach with hands and arms while wearing personal protective apparel required for the manufacturing location. The FST must carry the required tools needed to complete the task. An FST must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Job Summary

The primary role of the Field Service Technician (FST) is to provide onsite technical support in the form of troubleshooting, hands-on repairs, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and installation of new equipment for Nordson's Packaging Hot Melt Adhesive Dispensing Equipment product line. The FST also works closely with various Sales Team members to assist with technical presentations and training, system quote creation, and pre-installation meetings. The FST will be scheduled to visit customers by a Service Coordinator or Supervisor.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel daily to customer sites to perform troubleshooting, hands-on repairs, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and installation of new equipment.

  • Provide Remote Technical Support to assigned Top customers.

  • Provide start-up support for end-users who receive a new machine from an OEM with a Nordson Packaging system.

  • Complete Corrective Action Reports for all Warranty issues.

  • Conduct formal and informal training classes.

  • Complete accurate service reports/service tickets after customer visits in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for auditing, documenting and updating customer installed base line survey information for our database.

  • Report any customer complaints about our equipment performance to assigned Field Service Supervisor.

  • Participate in joint visits with the sales team, Field Service Supervisor, and other internal team members to assist with sales opportunities or voice of customer information gathering.

  • Upsell customers on aftermarket parts or services (eg TrueBlue PM Program).

  • Participate in ongoing training of our products.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • College degree in a Technical Program.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong Mechanical & electrical knowledge/understanding.

  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulic systems/components.

  • Strong ability to read and understand manuals, parts lists, component drawings, dimensional drawings, hydraulic & pneumatic schematics, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Familiarity with using common tools and equipment (i.e. Multi-Meter).

  • Comfortable working with hi-temp, hi-pressure, and hi-voltage equipment (240VAC - 480VAC).

  • Comfortable working onsite alone with tools to assist customers.

  • Comfortable with upselling customers on new products and technologies.

  • Effective clear concise oral & written communication skills.

  • Home office space.

  • Excellent computer knowledge: MS Office, Outlook, MS Teams, Concur, SAP, SAP C4C, Concur etc.

  • Available to travel ~75% of the time.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Working conditions will vary based on the location and nature of the customer. Working conditions are those typical to light and heavy industrial settings and will include moderate to high noise levels and temperature extremes.

While performing assigned duties, the FST is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk, climb steps, cross roller conveyors, and reach with hands and arms while wearing personal protective apparel required for the manufacturing location. The FST must carry the required tools needed to complete the task. An FST must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception.

Travel Required

Estimated 75% with 5 to 10+ overnight stays/month.
