Job Description
• Job Title: Signal Technician• Location: Pearl City, Hawaii• Type: Direct Hire• Compensation: $28.37/hr• Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsiteHours: The role requires flexibility and efficiency which require shift rotation, weekends and holidays work typical of major infrastructure projects, and operating transit systems
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, preventive, and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication, and proper maintenance on assigned Signaling system equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations, and maintenance manuals.
- Observe system components and devices in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction.
- Perform troubleshooting, identification, and resolution of system and subsystem faults to support field technicians.
- Produce accurate maintenance records, equipment performance logs, and work accomplished documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Analyze log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide required corrective actions and improvements.
- Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and during on-duty support.
- Support spare parts management and repair cycles from/to the site.
- Assist in preparing system performance maintenance technical reports.
- Create work blocks and Job hazard analysis related to planned work.
- Conduct job and safety briefings as required.
- Work in close proximity to the third rail, frequently requesting Red Tag, LOTOs, and hot stick application.
- Ensure maintenance records are executed and collected, supporting monitoring of daily maintenance performance.
- Verify conformance to technical specifications and operational tolerances, including dimensions and clearances of parts.
- Ensure necessary materials, tools, and equipment are calibrated, available, and in good condition for tasks.
- Identify failure trends early to prevent fleet downtime.
- Download and analyze logs and dump files from onsite equipment.
- Execute and document preventive and corrective maintenance per safety policies and local regulations.
- Support safety standards during first-line response maintenance.
- Perform flexible shift work including weekends and holidays, typical of major infrastructure projects and transit systems.
- Perform additional cross-functional duties related to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed per training and qualification.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical controlled systems and equipment.
- 1-3 years’ experience in electronic equipment maintenance.
- Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment.
- Knowledge of safety rules regarding lock-out protection and traffic safety procedures.
- Strong ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and operational instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent technical experience.
- Ability to work near the third rail with appropriate safety procedures.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
- Reliable and able to handle multiple priorities effectively.
