YOU As a Tool Room Machinist, you will be responsible for maintaining production tools, tooling inventory, modifying tools, assisting operators with tooling needs, operating a variety of tool room equipment including but not limited to, lathes, mills, grinders, hones, EDMs. This position works a Monday- Thursday shift- 3:00 pm 1:30 am with overtime as needed. This shift is eligible for a $1.00 shift differential. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time) Operating tool room equipment to modify and repair production tooling to support production needs. (70%) Managing the Kan-Ban system to maintain inventory of production tooling. (20%) Communicating with vendors and placing inventory orders for tooling. (10%) DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE If you can do everything listed above, you have what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too: High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 5 years' experience in a tool room high production atmosphere, preferably in a cold heading environment. Ability to operate various tool room equipment including but not limited to, lathes, mills, grinders, EDM's, and hones. Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers, and optical comparators. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on concrete all day. May perform some or all of the following duties depending on training and experience. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Take items as they come out of the washer or ironer and hand fold, stack, and place them on the appropriate cart for transporting to the next stage of the process. Remove product from the previous process. Identify through previous job knowledge how many items per stack. Pull cart over to work area, adjusting the cart so that linen is at a comfortable waist level. Fold items and place on the appropriate cart or table For larger items, there may be group folding. Each folding partner grabs the lengthwise end of the item. The partners step back and make a lengthwise fold in the item. One person places it on the cart or table, in stacks of three or five, based on item. Fill up the cart in a like manner. Run clean product through the ironer, catch it as it comes out of the ironer and count it for folding or for the next stage of production. Bend down and lift flat sheets and blankets from the basket or feed table. (The basket may have already gone through a picker that loosens up the contents or may need to be shaken out). Pull the flat sheets and/or blankets from the basket/feed table and feed it into the spreader, the machine then pulls it into the Ironer. The first feed draws the item into the spreader and the second feed draws it into the Ironer. Pillowcases and smaller items are in spring loaded carts. Catch items as they come out of the Ironer, inspect it for quality, stack it and place in a nearby cart. Load various types of linen items according the individual clients order, in proper order and to the correct cart prior to delivery to the institution. Identify the various lines of linen products the company offers and its respective function. Build bulk carts by filling it with the individual linen products. Read the individual customer tickets and insure the proper product and count is then loaded into the cart. Weigh carts in /out and enter data of into a computer program Use a hand held electronic scanner. Adhere to all quality standards associated with the different tasks. Understand, observe and adhere to all Novo Health Services safety procedures and Standard Operating procedures associated with the different tasks. Assist in any other areas as directed by team leader or management. Perform other duties as required. Reporting to the Powder Prep Supervisor. JOB DUTIES: Keep powder running to the Press Department. Clean lines and perform color changes when orders are complete. Run and wash spray dryer when needed. Vacuum Powder Silo decks and wash silos when empty Assist in dumping hoppers in department and outside departments. Perform basic maintenance (for example, replacing vacuum and dust collector hoses/belts/scrapers). Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement. Demonstrate understanding of operating Ball Mill Control Room, Color Mix Control Room, and Main Control Room. Complete 5S and TPMs and all other necessary paperwork. Operate a forklift and front-end loader. Use Gemba board to effectively communicate issues. Communicate effectively with co-workers, Supervisors, and other Departments as needed. Perform start up and shutdown procedures, including cleaning. Ensure that appropriate slip supplies are available. Supervise the screening and electromagneting of all slip to be used. Ensure that spray dried powder, after acceptance by the Technical Cross-train in order to work all Powder Prep positions if needed: Spray Dryer Check lances to determine they are spraying well and change lances. Measure silos and check cycle tanks and dump cyclone tanks if necessary. Startup spray dryer. Dump hoppers on deco line, kiln, and presses. Clean bucket elevator during final fill and clean lines downstairs. Clean spray dryer lines, clean sieves, wash spray dryer, and clean floor. Complete moisture checks and density and viscosity testing. Keep powder running to presses. Color Room Operator Make stain/color Make batch corrections Provide color to the spray dryer Unload trucks to restock stain. Clean mixing tank, holding tanks, ATMs, color lines A&B mixer. Clean sieves after each color at the end of the day, taking care of waste when full. Lifting 55 lbs., hooking and unhooking hoses and moving hoses. Ball Mill/Water Room Operator Maintain and do testing on Ball Mill (density, viscosity, residue test) Run turbo mixer to control water and greenware. Load and unload scrap. Deal with suppliers and truck drivers, keeping on track of material quantities. Maintain water system and switch out membrane. Feed material to Ball Mill weight belts and know feed rates. Multi-task by watching belts, screens, etc., to ensure smooth operation. Operate heavy equipment to load weigh box and push new incoming loads of clay. Lifting grinding media that weighs 55 lbs. Color correct mixers/tanks that have not been passed within the declared specs. Lifting 55-100 lbs. of stain, depending on the color being made. This could consist of a few bags to 30+ bags. Process the water used in the plant through a membrane system that takes particulate out of the water. Install and rotate membrane as needed. Handle various chemicals that are put in the process. Work on Kaizen for continuous improvement. Follow safety guidelines and company standards, using Personal Protection Equipment. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace. Perform any other duties that may be required or assigned. Communicate about tap sizes when the tap size changes. OTHER At shift start: Make sure all alloy hoppers are full Check setpoints on alloy addition system Coordinate with castline to determine if a wash heat is required. As a Tool Room Machinist, you will be responsible for maintaining production tools, tooling inventory, modifying tools, assisting operators with tooling needs, operating a variety of tool room equipment including but not limited to, lathes, mills, grinders, hones, EDMs. This position works a Monday- Thursday shift- 3:00 pm 1:30 am with overtime as needed. This shift is eligible for a $1.00 shift differential.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Operating tool room equipment to modify and repair production tooling to support production needs. (70%)

Managing the Kan-Ban system to maintain inventory of production tooling. (20%)

Communicating with vendors and placing inventory orders for tooling. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you have what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a tool room high production atmosphere, preferably in a cold heading environment.
  • Ability to operate various tool room equipment including but not limited to, lathes, mills, grinders, EDM's, and hones. Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers, and optical comparators.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on concrete all day.
