POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Workforce Consultant, you'll make a direct and meaningful impact by helping individuals unlock their career potential and connect with opportunity. In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate with job seekers to create personalized employment plans, deliver one-on-one coaching, and guide skill development that leads to real results. You'll also build strong relationships with local employers, lead engaging workshops, and share valuable labor market insights, acting as the vital link between a motivated workforce and the businesses that need their talents. Together, we're building a stronger, more resilient community powered by meaningful work.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:

  • You will deepen your professional skills and expand your impact over time.
  • As you create and implement personalized job search plans, you'll refine your ability to assess strengths, identify barriers, and design clear, actionable career pathways.
  • Through ongoing case management and one-on-one counseling, you'll sharpen your communication and problem-solving skills while learning to navigate community resources and workforce programs effectively.
  • By coordinating and tracking client activities and outcomes, you'll build strong analytical skills and learn to use data to guide decisions.
  • Leading workshops, coaching clients on resumes and interviews, and partnering with employers will further strengthen your facilitation, public speaking, and relationship-building abilities, preparing you to thrive as a future-ready workforce professional.
  • This full-time role offers the chance to support communities across Montana while enjoying the state's outdoor recreation, strong sense of community, and high quality of life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Workforce Consultant will:

  • Empower clients to take charge of their career journey by developing and implementing personalized job search plans that identify the services, training, and supports needed for lasting employment success.
  • Discover potential and uncover barriers through interest and skill assessments that inform strategic, meaningful employment pathways tailored to each individual.
  • Provide dedicated, ongoing guidance with case management and career counseling that connect clients to programs, resources, and supports that move them closer to their goals.
  • Champion access and opportunity by helping clients navigate workforce programs, community resources, and partner services with clarity and confidence.
  • Drive progress through collaboration, coordinating and tracking client activities, services, and outcomes to ensure steady advancement toward employment milestones.
  • Inspire career readiness by coaching clients to strengthen job search techniques, refine resumes and applications, master interviews, and overcome obstacles to success.
  • Build lasting bridges between people and opportunity by facilitating workshops, partnering with employers, and sharing up-to-date labor market insights that help shape a responsive, future-ready workforce.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, insight and expertise to the following key areas:

  • Job search planning: Partner with clients to turn career goals into actionable steps by identifying barriers, building realistic plans, and mapping pathways that lead to lasting employment success.
  • Client communication: Build meaningful connections through active listening, empathy, and clear communication that fosters trust, motivation, and confidence at every stage of the job search.
  • Client assessment: Use interviews, assessments, and keen observation to uncover each client's strengths, interests, and challenges, then transform those insights into personalized employment strategies.
  • Career support and coaching: Guide clients with encouragement and practical advice, helping them gain confidence, sharpen skills, and access the resources needed to move forward with purpose.
  • Resource navigation: Serve as a knowledgeable link to workforce, education, and community systems, making complex processes simple and ensuring clients can access the opportunities that fit their goals.
  • Job skills training: Lead hands on training in key job readiness skills; resume writing, applications, networking, and interview prep all while helping clients overcome barriers that stand in their way.
  • Advocacy: Champion your clients by clearly communicating their skills and potential to employers, programs, and partners, and by explaining workforce services in approachable, empowering language.
  • Workshop facilitation: Create and deliver engaging workshops that inspire learning and build confidence through interactive discussion, practical exercises, and real world skill building.
  • Employer engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with local employers to identify hiring needs, open doors to opportunity, and connect job seekers with meaningful, sustainable employment.
  • Public speaking: Represent the agency with professionalism and confidence, delivering dynamic presentations that engage diverse audiences and showcase the power of workforce transformation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)

We are looking for a candidate with at least one year of experience in the following:

  • Proven experience delivering direct employment or workforce support services to unemployed or underemployed individuals, as well as those seeking to reskill or upskill into new careers. This includes individualized job placement, job readiness assessments, career planning, and supportive service referrals.
  • In-depth knowledge of human service systems, with a strong understanding of common barriers related to employment, housing, education, and community reintegration.
  • Established success in collaborating with a broad range of partners such as employers, social service organizations, government agencies, and nonprofits to connect individuals with education, training, and job opportunities.
  • Skilled in developing professional reports, presentations, and documentation for participants, partner agencies, and supervisors.
  • Experience analyzing service gaps, gathering participant or program data, and offering informed recommendations to management that support program quality and continuous improvement.
