A day in the life: Conduct routine protein purification to support formulation team’s material needs and cell culture development Conduct high-throughput protein purification to support cell line development Provide assistance in purification process development, optimization, and scale-up manufacturing Conduct routine analyses of in-process samples using relevant product purity and process impurity analytical tools Prepare buffers and solutions needed for laboratory work Present work summary in the group meeting Write routine electronic laboratory notebook Other responsibilities as assigned Education and Experience BS degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, chemistry or related fields, preferably with some relevant industry experiences with 2-4 years of experience or MS in above fields with 0-2 years of experience. In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge in protein chemistry and bioprocessing Good knowledge and hands-on experiences in various types of column/membrane chromatography (affinity, size exclusion, ion exchanges, multi-mode) and filtration technology; TFF Experiences in using AKTA line of purification instruments Experiences in using ultrafiltration/diafiltration instrument for buffer exchange, product concentration, and formulation Experiences in protein analysis such as HPLC, CGE, ELISA, etc. is a plus Aseptic Technique Good verbal and written communication skills, organized, cooperative, independent, meticulous Experiences in high-throughput protein purification platform are desirable but not required. Our client is seeking a motivated and dedicated protein purification scientist to support protein purification process development and optimization primarily for novel therapeutic monoclonal antibody products including bispecifics throughout all stages of clinical trials. 

A day in the life:

  • Conduct routine protein purification to support formulation team’s material needs and cell culture development
  • Conduct high-throughput protein purification to support cell line development
  • Provide assistance in purification process development, optimization, and scale-up manufacturing
  • Conduct routine analyses of in-process samples using relevant product purity and process impurity analytical tools
  • Prepare buffers and solutions needed for laboratory work
  • Present work summary in the group meeting
  • Write routine electronic laboratory notebook
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, chemistry or related fields, preferably with some relevant industry experiences  with 2-4 years of experience or MS in above fields with 0-2 years of experience.

In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Good knowledge in protein chemistry and bioprocessing
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experiences in various types of column/membrane chromatography (affinity, size exclusion, ion exchanges, multi-mode) and filtration technology; TFF
  • Experiences in using AKTA line of purification instruments  
  • Experiences in using ultrafiltration/diafiltration instrument for buffer exchange, product concentration, and formulation
  • Experiences in protein analysis such as HPLC, CGE, ELISA, etc. is a plus
  • Aseptic Technique
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, organized, cooperative, independent, meticulous
  • Experiences in high-throughput protein purification platform are desirable but not required.
