Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides direct patient addiction treatment and care according to professional guidelines and best practices.
  • Maintains collaborative agreements with the psychiatric nurse practitioners.
  • Participates in the development of clinical systems that assures the provision of care for all clients in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Participates in developing plans of care for clients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments/disciplines relating to the provision of psychiatric care.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physician licensed and currently registered as such by the New York State Education Department
  • Hold a Federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified), within six months of employment
  • The medical director should hold either:
    • a subspecialty board certification in addiction psychiatry from the American Board of Medical Specialties; or
    • an addiction certification from the American Society of Addiction Medicine; or
    • a certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM); or
    • a subspecialty board certification in Addiction Medicine from the American Osteopathic Association?
