In the role of a Senior Real Estate Services Title Agent, we'll count on you to: Complete property rights review Provide client support as needed for including, but not limited to, working with other agencies on procedures related to street vacations, dedications, easement releases and grants, storm water covenants, and site plan submission Provide regular project updates Act as client representative interacting with outside agencies Preparation of project reports, and review of title document packages Review complex encumbrances and provides clearance recommendations, per client standards Review Right-of-Way centerline surveys prepared on properties, if applicable Serve as strategic expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization and resolve problems of high-level scope and complexity Plan, organize, and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed Train junior staff by providing insight and instruction regarding task completion and procedure Perform complex principles in reading, writing, retracing and interpreting legal descriptions, such as parent parcel; metes and bounds; subdivision; and centerline Prepare title project reports, which includes overseeing schedule and budget in support of Project Manager Maintain accurate records of title research activities per a variety of local, county, state and/or federal requirements Work with surveyors and engineers to review and provide problem-solving recommendations in area of specialization Work closely with Project Manager, client, and title manager or underwriter, as appropriate to meet project time requirements, and assist with answering questions Read and interpret policies and procedures appropriate for title and title-clearing, per client standards Additional specialized skills, such as preparing real estate documents and memorandums, specific to clients & projects Preferred Qualifications Degree or certification pertaining to right of way, title, paralegal, real property law or mortgage lending, or equivalent experience #LI-JM8 Required Qualifications A minimum of 5 years experience with right of way, title, paralegal, real property law or mortgage lending Must exhibit knowledge of real estate title practices and principles including underwriting, title insurance and public records research Have the knowledge and ability to review real estate documents such as design plans, construction plans, appraisals, environmental documents, surveys, deeds, easements, deeds of trust, mechanics liens, tax liens, judgments, assessments, probates and other matters of record Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others and excellent oral and written communication skills Understanding of the Uniform Relocation Act, Eminent Domain Process, and applicable county, state and/or federal requirements statutes and ordinances Ability to work independently with minimal direction and a focus on meeting deadlines on multiple assignments Highly motivated with the ability to prioritize and to direct others Where required hold a Certification license in the States where work is performed Solid organizational and planning skills Database, ProjectWise and GIS familiarity a plus Proficient with MS Office Suite, Webex and Teams What We Believe HDR is our company. We are seeking a Corporate Counsel – Real Estate & Commercial Transactions a legal professional who specializes in property law, representing clients in matters involving the purchase, sale, leasing, and development of real estate. They review and draft contracts, negotiate agreements, resolve title and zoning issues, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Real Estate Attorneys provide guidance on property disputes, landlord-tenant matters, financing, and land use planning, protecting their clients’ interests throughout each transaction. With strong negotiation, analytical, and litigation skills, they serve as trusted advisors to individuals, investors, developers, and businesses, ensuring smooth and legally sound real estate transactions.

Job summary

This in-house attorney will be a key driver of our real estate operations, as well as general corporate matters.

  • 70% - Lease Negotiations and Buyouts: Lead negotiations for new leases, lease amendments, and lease buyouts. Perform comprehensive due diligence on real estate assets, including title searches and lease analysis.
  • 20% - Commercial Contracts: Draft and review commercial services agreements and other business contracts.
  • 5% - General Advice: Provide strategic legal advice on a wide range of topics, including employment and corporate governance.
  • 5% - Problem Solving: Craft innovative and practical solutions to various business challenges and opportunities, and drive them from concept to successful implementation..

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate contracts, leases, purchase agreements, and related legal documents.
  • Conduct due diligence for property acquisitions, sales, and lease transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external counsel to facilitate real estate deals.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including service agreements, vendor contracts, and other business arrangements, ensuring terms align with company objectives and mitigate legal risk.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings, hearings, or negotiations.
  • Provide support to the internal and external legal teams.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Track record of exceeding expectations.
  • Strong knowledge of property law and contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple transactions and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Willingness to obtain Texas bar license
