Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport. Reports vehicle concerns timely. Assists with transferring and balancing patients. Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort. Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements. Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport. Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient. May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards. Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule. Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum Education & Experience: High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Basic Life Support card required. Six months van transport experience preferred. Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation: Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability. Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates proficiency using the machines, tools, equipment and/or work aids appropriate for the position. Demonstrates critical thinking skills. Ability to maintain quality, Infection Prevention, and safety standards. Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality. Effective organizational and time management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills, compassionate and understanding. Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift: A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time. Both gross and precise motor functions. Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs. Possible exposure to bodily fluids. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear overhead pages.

JOB SUMMARY: To operate a Roll Off trash truck in accordance with D.O.T. regulations and Company policy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Drives a truck according to established subscription routes or municipal territories, servicing all assigned customers courteously and timely. Operates the truck according to local, state and federal D.O.T. observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transports and dumps municipal trash at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill. Check in with dispatch to insure all stops are picked –up. Must get approval from dispatch before returning to the shop Obtain load weight tickets and sign for load. Maintains any related records required, e.g. driver’s log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, missed logs, etc Cleans truck cab and body daily. Performs daily all duties and inspections identified in the vehicle pre and post trip Vehicle Condition Report. Reports any maintenance malfunctions on the Vehicle Condition Report and reports it to the maintenance shop supervisor. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May be required to fill in driving a Dump Truck, Rear Load or Front Load trash vehicle if properly trained and approved for the same. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Valid state commercial drivers license (CDL Class B or equivalent). Attention to detail to prevent damage to the truck, equipment and surrounding items. Ability to bend, stoop, get into and out of truck cab unassisted, and perform all required Vehicle Condition Report checks/inspections unassisted. The Transportation Driver is responsible for transporting patients and/or equipment to and from various outside appointments, clinics, nursing facilities, hospitals, or other ancillary locations via hospital-owned vehicle. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions:

  • Transports patients in a safe and professional manner
  • Assures vehicles are clean and in working order. Responsible for cleaning of inside of van utilizing appropriate chemicals between patients.
  • Communicates with various hospital staff in order to receive relevant data and instructions.
  • Inspects vehicle prior to daily vehicle usage for safe and comfortable patient transport. Reports vehicle concerns timely.
  • Assists with transferring and balancing patients. Ensures patients’ physical and overall comfort.
  • Follows all patient safety and vehicle safety requirements. Responsible for knowing what PPE to apply to patient and driver prior to transport.
  • Notifies proper staff regarding changes in condition or behavior of patient.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic Life Support card required.
  • Six months van transport experience preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:

  • Must maintain acceptable driving record, current class specific driver’s license, and insurability.
  • Driving record must meet the standards of the Transportation Policy.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:

  • A significant amount of sitting, driving, and reaching, often for prolonged periods of time.
  • Both gross and precise motor functions.
  • Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to hear overhead pages.
