Company Drivers are responsible for overseeing and leading Armstrong’s full-cycle transportation initiatives, including, but not limited to packing, padding, inventory, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking. The Driver will operate a tractor-trailer (CDL A) or a straight truck (CDL B) to receive, store, and distribute equipment and goods. This requires handling of materials, as well as overseeing helpers in the packing, loading, and unloading of materials. Strong Customer Service skills are required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate trucks for the local delivery, pick-up, and relocation of product and materials. Protect customer’s items and property using pads, tape, and other material to prevent damage during loading, transit, and unloading. Ensure each item and its condition is accurately listed on the Shipment Inventory. Ensure all other shipment paperwork, such as Bills of Lading, Statements of Accessorial Services, Inventories, and Weight Tickets, is properly completed. Direct packers and helpers so loading / unloading is safely accomplished within established productivity standards, as well as to the customer’s satisfaction. Comply with all paperwork requirements (e.g. driver logs and expense reports). Maintain clean and orderly equipment and perform routine vehicle maintenance work (fluid levels, air pressure levels, etc.). Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pick-up operations. Follow all safety rules as required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety program. Inspect all materials received for order accuracy and quality. Communicate effectively with operations staff about customer concerns and inventory issues. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Review work orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Prior moving & storage or furniture delivery experience a plus. Proven history of driving with a safe driving record. Must pass all company and DOT requirements, including roadside inspection reports (PSP), DOT medical screen, pre-qualification drug screen, and criminal background investigation. Must be able to drive and safely operate a straight truck and/or tractor-trailer in accordance with United Van Lines, and DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, policies, procedures, and standards. Responsibilities

  • Schedule and safely transport residents to doctors’ appointments, local outings/excursions and other planned trips as directed by the Lifestyle Director
  • Assist with the safe loading and seating of residents onto and off of the community vehicles(s) making certain that all residents are properly secured before driving
  • Conduct daily inspection and safety checks on vehicle(s) before the first use and following the final use of the day
  • Schedule regular maintenance of all community vehicles as necessary
  • Ensure that the community vehicle/van(s) are in proper operational order, registration and insurance information is present and up-to-date and promptly report any/all safety, mechanical or maintenance issues to supervisor
  • Maintain communication throughout the community with use of cell phone or radio to always remain comprised of resident location and status as necessary
  • Assist with scheduling outings and/or medical appointments as needed, planned property activities and programs within the community between vehicle trips
  • Perform day-to-day clerical work associated with the position including tracking trips/residents, logging maintenance checks, etc.
  • Display a positive and professional image through actions and maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
  • Represent the Clearwater Living principles and core value on a daily basis
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • Ability, licensure and willingness to drive the community vehicles or van
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • AA degree preferred or a minimum of two years of work experience in the industry

  • First Aid/CPR/BLS Certificate required
