What You Will Do: The Exercise Specialist assists in the care of the cardiac patient in multiple modalities. Provides all patient care in the Cardiac-Pulmonary department and ECP, where appropriate. Provides lifestyle modification, education and exercise prescription for the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary patients and community education. What You Will Need: Bachelors in Fitness/Sports Studies Required. Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for the overall member experience when participating in group-based exercise programs. The Group Exercise Instructor is expected to have extensive knowledge of current fitness trends, and have the desire and ability to bring diverse groups of people together, and have good communication, coordination, and training. Group Exercise Instructor The Group Exercise Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness. Major Responsibilities: Pre-class Preparation: Arrive at class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, introduce and orient new participants. Group Exercise Instructors should know their participants on an individual basis and have a good sense of their fitness capabilities. Clothing should be appropriate fitness attire. It should not prohibit participants from seeing proper form, alignment and movement of the body. However, clothing should not be revealing in an inappropriate manner. When possible, Group Exercise Instructors should wear Gold’s Gym branded attire. Proper footwear should be worn at all times. Prepare appropriate music for class. If using multiple tapes, ensure everything is rewound and ready to play when needed. Refrain from using music with offensive language. Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and have microphones ready. During Class Responsibilities: Introduce yourself and the format of the class. Inquire if there are any “first-timers” in the group and if so, assess their fitness level in as private a manner as possible. Continually monitor participants to ensure all participants are using correct form. Offer variations of the routine to accommodate all fitness levels. Schedule Details: This .6 FTE commits to 24 hours per week. This position is located at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital- Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab 7-1600 Tues, Wed, Thurs with opportunity to pick up additional hours on Monday and Friday at Waukesha Memorial Hospital Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab between the hours of 5:45am-5:30pm and Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital between the hours of 7:00am-4:00pm M-F.

What You Will Do:

The Exercise Specialist assists in the care of the cardiac patient in multiple modalities. Provides all patient care in the Cardiac-Pulmonary department and ECP, where appropriate. Provides lifestyle modification, education and exercise prescription for the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary patients and community education.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelors in Fitness/Sports Studies Required.
  • Bachelor of Science in one of the following areas: Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Human Performance & Recreation, Exercise Physiology
  • Minimum License: BLS (CPR), ACLS
  • Exercise Specialist degree, must have ACSM and ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • Previous internship in a Cardiac Rehab program
