Position Summary: The Director and Principal Scientist, Everglades Science Center (ESC) will be the next scientist to lead this important long-term ecological monitoring and research field station while also identifying new opportunities for the research to inform Audubon conservation and policy recommendations for the greater Everglades ecosystem. This is essential work in Audubon's Flight Plan vision to recover the hemisphere's birds and at the same time, preserve the natural resources that support us all. The Director and Principal Scientist is expected to represent Audubon Florida and contribute our unique historical perspective and current data to Everglades ecosystem science and restoration efforts in the broader community, with state and federal agencies, and other partners. The Director must be highly collaborative, able to connect with and communicate their work to multiple stakeholders, value the importance of long-term ecological monitoring, and be experienced in directing ecological research. This role will focus on developing new capabilities and commercially relevant technologies that drive innovation in Texture & Healthful Solutions, Protein Fortification, and Sugar Reduction. This role report to VP, Molecular Discovery and Measurement Sciences and oversees a team of 4 direct reports and an overall team of 15 to 20 professionals. What you will do (Responsibilities): Develop a comprehensive and cohesive Measurement and Analytical Science strategy that clearly articulates to our customers how Ingredion's measurement science capabilities create value and drive growth. Execute a multi-year global Measurement and Analytical Science strategy to build technology platform capabilities that deliver innovation aligned with Ingredion's Play to Win (P2W) aspiration. Collaborate with regional technical and segment business teams to develop and update a multi-year business plan, effectively allocating resources to prioritize growth projects and seize new business opportunities. Establish Ingredion as a thought leader and partner by advancing data-driven, fundamental, science-based impactful solutions for customers and consumers. Elevate the capabilities of our Food Measurement Science function to create a sustainable competitive advantage. Identify capability gaps and future needs, and execute a plan to develop and grow the team accordingly. Develop and leverage internal and external capabilities and partnerships to successfully implement and execute our Measurement Science strategy. Adopt new capabilities, including AI technologies, to enable faster and more robust solutions. Lead global competitive analysis and benchmarking initiatives, focusing on key competitors in the marketplace. What you will bring (Experience and Knowledge): PhD or equivalent industry experience in Materials Science, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with 10+ years of broad technical experience. Experience with ingredient manufacturers or consumer goods manufacturing companies Direct Consumer Products Company experience a plus. Demonstrated experience and ingredient Structure-Function understanding across broad Food & Beverage categories. Specific technical knowledge of starches, hydrocolloids, other texturizers, sweeteners, and functional nutritional ingredients. Ensures applicable interactions are aligned with enterprise and medical strategies and ultimately serve to ensure patients have access to BMS medicines through their efforts to ensure the medical community is fully apprised of their safe and effective use. Additionally, the MSL will work with medical community to address other pertinent scientific related questions not limited to approved assets and indications. MSL engagement with HCPs is focused on pre- and peri-launch activities or according to lifecycle needs of the brand. The MSL will engage in educational dialogue with relevant HCPs and share relevant clinical evidence and information based on the physicians' needs and in accordance with the field medical plan. The MSL will also be responsible for serving on a scheduled, standing basis as "Medical on Call" - virtually engaging treating physicians in the community, facilitated by their commercial counterpart, TAS (Therapeutic Area Specialist), to answer unsolicited off-label and technically complex questions in real time. The Medical on Call capability and operating model will be implemented in 2024/5 on a market-by-market basis as the technology and operating model are ready. This role is field-based, and it is anticipated that the employee will spend a majority of the time in the field interacting with external stakeholders, including investigators and clinical thought leaders, while also supporting internal stakeholders and continuing to maintain a high level of therapeutic expertise. The starting compensation for this job is a range from $150,000 - $200,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
