POSITION SUMMARY:

These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Instructor is responsible for teaching HIIT group exercise classes to members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Provide highly engaging HIIT instruction to members of all fitness levels in group workouts and workshops.

2.Provide instruction to members on the safe use of all equipment and workouts.

3.Assists in HIIT program and workshop design.

4.Engage by greeting members and providing quality member service.

5.Maintain high standards of communication with supervisor, members, staff and volunteers.

6.Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all facility and equipment in the Fitness Centers.

7.Responsible for recording information as needed.

8.Respond to emergencies as needed.

9.Maintain Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

10.Attend all department staff meetings and trainings specified by supervisor.

11.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, such as Red Cross and American Heart Association
  • Ability to teach and design programs using props, weights, variable resistance, and other class-related equipment.
  • Completion of YMCA safety certifications must be accomplished within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • At least 18 years of age
