Other duties include: Taking Blood Pressures, Palpate pulse, Pulse Ox saturation and perform blood glucose check. Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a Fitness Related Field required or a combination of education, experience or certification from ASCM or must obtain ACSM within 6 months of being hired. Cardiopulmonary Rehab Experienced preferred. Under the direction of the Senior Healthy Living Director and/or the Healthy Living Manager, the Group Fitness Instructor will teach classes that are aimed at improving the overall fitness levels of our members. In addition, this position is responsible for the following duties: Essential Functions / Job Duties: Leads engaging class experience that is challenging, yet safe, and able to be modified to fit the needs of the target audience. Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA. Observes and adjusts approach during class to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Ensures that all necessary equipment is set up for class, and inspect equipment to be sure that it is in safe working order. Ensures that class is set up no more than 10 minutes before start time and broken down no more than 10 minutes past class end time including ensuring fitness room is clean and equipment is returned to its original location. Records attendance and/or Checks-in participants in order to maintain attendance of each class using Group Ex Pro app or desktop website. Uses the Sub Board on Group Ex Pro to request subs for classes, and is available to sub other instructor’s classes as needed. All class subs will need to be approved by a supervisor. Monitors that fitness room is neat and equipment used during a class is returned to its proper location in an organized manner before leaving. Instructors are responsible for providing their own music suitable for a family setting. Reports injuries to Healthy Living Director and/or Executive Director and complete the proper paperwork immediately following any injury. This information must be reported to the Human Resources Department within 24 hours of the incident. Serious injuries must be called into Human Resources immediately. Ensures that there is a substitute instructor if you are unable to teach your assigned class. Partners with Healthy Living Director to develop special events that promote fitness and meet community fitness needs. Other duties, as assigned. Knowledge of the principles related to the improvement of overall fitness levels. Certificates and Licenses: CPR Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire. Job Summary The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for the education, monitoring, exercise prescription, improved functional capacity, and risk factor management of cardiac and pulmonary patients. They promote wellness through community screenings and programs. They work cooperatively with other exercise specialists, registered nurses, dieticians and other Healthcare providers. Evaluates each participant's clinical progress on daily basis. Establishes individual participant goals and optimizes cardiac risk factor management. Participates in wellness screenings. Performs biometric screening. Provides education, assists in goal setting, and assessment of risk factors/lifestyle changes. Demonstrates proficient assessment skills. Demonstrates recognition of arrhythmias, adverse symptoms, and medication side effects. Communicates and documents untoward events to appropriate staff and/or physicians. Establishes rapport with patient and family. Instructs and answers questions. Explains reasons for therapy to patient and family. Identifies and promotes cardiopulmonary referrals. Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to promote optimal patient care and outcomes. Provides an individual exercise program for Phase 2 and 3 participants. Demonstrates the ability to appropriately assess patients, apply clinical interventions, evaluate outcomes, and implement change to plan of care. Initiates Interdisciplinary collaboration to promote optimal patient care and outcomes. All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education- Bachelors degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Exercise and Sports Science Preferred: Experience- 1+ years of Cardiology Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience; 1+ years of Rehabilitation Experience Education- Masters degree in Health Related Field Certifications- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification- American Heart Association (AHA); American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) - National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA); Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP)- American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Physical Requirements: Medium work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently (34-66% of the time), and or up to 50 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds seldomly to move objects. Job Description

This position is responsible for the daily operations of the cardiopulmonary rehab exercise program equipment area. Position also responsible for assisting participants with equipment orientations. Monitor Telemetry, provide participants guidance in safe and proper usage of all fitness equipment, performing preventive wellness assessments, baseline assessments, organize and implement programs pertaining to cardiopulmonary rehab and attend health fairs/outside events representing Augusta Health Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.  Exercise physiologist will also provide education to inpatients discussing cardiovascular risk factors, cardiovascular diagnosis, and benefits to attending the Phase II Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program. Other duties include: Taking Blood Pressures, Palpate pulse, Pulse Ox saturation and perform blood glucose check.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science, Kinesiology, Sport Management or a Fitness Related Field required or a combination of education, experience or certification from ASCM or must obtain ACSM within 6 months of being hired.
  • Cardiopulmonary Rehab Experienced preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification
  • ACLS certification within 3 months
  • ACSM certification within 6 months
