Summary Of Essential Job Functions: • Create exciting group fitness classes as assigned, along with appropriate music playlists. • Attract and retain members by providing outstanding customer service. • Responsible for interacting with employees, members and guests in a manner aligned with the People, Places and Programs components of the Village Standards. • Lead by example, consistently conveying a positive attitude, passion and pride in teaching and all communication. • Provide members and guests with the highest level of professionalism and dedication. • Responsible for maintaining minimum attendance in classes. Required Abilities Physical Activity This position requires frequent standing, walking, stretching, reaching and grasping, bending and kneeling. Sitting for some periods of time. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Physical Requirement Position requires frequent walking, standing, stretching and bending daily. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects. Involves physical movements required to teach Pilates and participate in activities related to membership events and programs. Under the direction of the Senior Healthy Living Director and/or the Healthy Living Manager, the Group Fitness Instructor will teach classes that are aimed at improving the overall fitness levels of our members. In addition, this position is responsible for the following duties: Essential Functions / Job Duties: Leads engaging class experience that is challenging, yet safe, and able to be modified to fit the needs of the target audience. Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA. Observes and adjusts approach during class to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Ensures that all necessary equipment is set up for class, and inspect equipment to be sure that it is in safe working order. Ensures that class is set up no more than 10 minutes before start time and broken down no more than 10 minutes past class end time including ensuring fitness room is clean and equipment is returned to its original location. Records attendance and/or Checks-in participants in order to maintain attendance of each class using Group Ex Pro app or desktop website. Uses the Sub Board on Group Ex Pro to request subs for classes, and is available to sub other instructor’s classes as needed. All class subs will need to be approved by a supervisor. Monitors that fitness room is neat and equipment used during a class is returned to its proper location in an organized manner before leaving. Instructors are responsible for providing their own music suitable for a family setting. Reports injuries to Healthy Living Director and/or Executive Director and complete the proper paperwork immediately following any injury. This information must be reported to the Human Resources Department within 24 hours of the incident. Serious injuries must be called into Human Resources immediately. Ensures that there is a substitute instructor if you are unable to teach your assigned class. Job Summary
Deliver professional, high quality, safe and innovative fitness classes and instruction to a diverse membership population.

Summary Of Essential Job Functions:
• Create exciting group fitness classes as assigned, along with appropriate music playlists.
• Attract and retain members by providing outstanding customer service.
• Responsible for interacting with employees, members and guests in a manner aligned with the People, Places and Programs components of the Village Standards.

• Responsible for maintaining minimum attendance in classes. Encouraged to use creative ideas to increase class attendance.
• Develop a personal rapport with members and guests, motivating them to participate in fitness classes. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, which includes ensuring that studio equipment is put away after each class and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills required:
• Nationally recognized certification in appropriate group fitness and/or exercise.
• Superior understanding and demonstration of customer service.
• Strong experience in a health club environment participating in instruction programming.
• Obtain CPR certification and attend New Hire Orientation within 30 days of hire through Company training. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

This position requires frequent standing, walking, stretching, reaching and grasping, bending and kneeling. Sitting for some periods of time. Physical Requirement
