Why We Need You The Research and Science Communication Assistant (RSCA) will work closely with small teams of peers, under mentorship from Museum staff and invited external STEM experts, to engage visitors in learning about current science topics as part of their museum visit. Requirements Education and Professional Experience: Master's Degree in computer science, data analytics, or a closely related field. Teaching/Instructional experience in the areas above. Familiarity with small liberal arts student-focused institutions. Preferred Education and Experience: Ph.D. or ABD in computer science, data analytics, data science, or mathematics. Documented background in the related instructional area. Two years of college-level teaching experience. Ability or willingness to learn to manage class in an online learning modality Tools and Equipment Used: Knowledge of operation and use of various office equipment, including, but not limited to: personal computer, including spreadsheet and word processing software, integrated database software, fax machines, copier, telephone, scanner, and printers. A valid driver's license may be required. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use arms, hands and fingers to operate and manipulate equipment generally found in an office setting. The employee may be frequently required to be mobile, communicate, and hear. The employee may occasionally be subject to a variety of outdoor environmental conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Mental demands include varied degrees of occasional stress while performing job duties. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office setting, and educational facilities including sports and entertainment venues, all of which may be indoor or outdoor. Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

When: Day and Evening availability is preferred

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Possesses an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in computer science, engineering, mathematical sciences, information sciences, or a computer-related degree as appropriate to the course and/or specialty being taught; or

  2. Possesses a related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited institution, with documented 18 graduate semester hours or equivalent of courses in a computer, mathematical sciences, or engineering-related field as appropriate to the course and/or specialty being taught.

  3. Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
