Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Component Engineering (CE) Intern in our Summer Internship Program.

The CE Intern will be responsible for completing technical projects in one or more of our cores CE areas in electric machine design, analysis, and testing. These areas include electric machine insulation systems, rotor subsystems, laminations, and magnets.

Key Responsibilities

  • The intern will fully document their learnings to be able to communicate with the broader team the outcomes of the projects
  • The technical project assignments will further the development and understanding of the subcomponent for integration into our standards optimizing elements of cost, durability, performance, and design for manufacturing
  • Work independently to accomplish tasks
  • Learn current test methods for application to the technical assessment
  • Implement logical problem-solving methods to arrive and sound technical conclusions
  • Trade off alternative options for the best method of implementation

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college
  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Materials Engineering is required
  • Desire to work in the automotive industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
  • Analytical, technical, and statistical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
