Overview
Job Description
- Take charge of full-cycle, bi-weekly multi-state payroll setup and processing (non-exempt/exempt, W-2/1099 as applicable).
- Review and reconcile time and attendance for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws (sick time, overtime, bereavement, FMLA, unemployment, garnishments/child support).
- Serve as the go-to contact for employees on pay, deductions, and withholdings.
- Administer 401(k) plans (enrollments, changes, loans, audits).
- Manage health, dental, and vision enrollments/terminations in carrier portals, including COBRA.
- Onboard/offboard employees in the external payroll system and maintain employee master data.
- Support audits and compliance (internal, external, and client/MSP) with accurate documentation and reporting.
- Be part of a close-knit team that values accuracy and trust in every paycheck.
- 5+ years hands-on payroll experience with Paychex or similar platforms.
- Advanced Excel, and solid Word/Outlook skills.
- Precision in data entry and recordkeeping; highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Clear, professional communication with employees and external partners.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently under deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting (or equivalent experience).
- Bonus: Prior MSP/staffing payroll experience.
- Hybrid role based in Edison, NJ.
- Pay Range: $50,000 – $65,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience. The company may offer compensation above this range based on qualifications.
