You'll work closely with engineering, cloud, and security teams to deliver secure, high-performance APIs that power our digital ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement API proxies, shared flows, and custom policies using Apigee X.

  • Design and manage GCP infrastructure components supporting Apigee X:

  • Global Load Balancer, Managed Instance Groups (MIGs), Compute Engine VMs

  • Cloud Armor, VPC networking, firewall rules, and peering

  • Develop reusable shared flows for logging, authentication, quota enforcement, and error handling.

  • Implement service callouts to internal and external systems using secure and scalable patterns.

  • Build custom policies using JavaScript, Python, and Apigee extensions.

  • Integrate with Ping Identity for OAuth2, SAML, and JWT-based authentication.

  • Design and enforce advanced security patterns including JWKS validation, mTLS, rate limiting, and mobile integration.

  • Drive CI/CD automation for API deployments using Cloud Build, Artifact Registry, and Terraform.

  • Monitor and optimize API performance using Apigee Analytics, Cloud Monitoring, and BigQuery.

  • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in API development and integration.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee X on GCP, including infrastructure setup and policy development. Including GCP Load Balancer, MIGs, VMs, Cloud Armor, and VPC networking.
  • Hands-on in JavaScript and Python for Apigee custom policy development, OAuth2, JWT, JWKS, and Ping Identity integration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Apigee API Engineer).
  • Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and ReadMe.
  • Familiarity with mobile API security patterns and zero-trust architecture.
  • Exposure to Bigtable, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
