The Coordinator of Transfer Pathways provides comprehensive academic, career, and transfer advising services, using the Guided Pathways model, to students pursuing transfer pathways at Edison State Community College. This position implements effective retention strategies to promote student success and completion through direct student engagement and case management. The Coordinator serves as resource in all matters related to supporting Transfer Pathways students in their educational pursuits. Working closely with other College stakeholders, the Coordinator plays a significant role in enrollment events. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of advising policies and a fundamental understanding of financial aid processes. The Coordinator collaborates extensively with faculty, academic deans, and departments across the College, including financial aid, registration, student life, athletics, and other student services. Additionally, the Coordinator participates in new student orientation and represents Edison State at both internal and external special events related to transfer education. Instruct transfer students in the transfer process, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of transfer advising resources, including articulation agreements, Transfer Module, Transferology, and other transfer tools. Interpret and apply Edison's assessment/placement model, including the use of multiple measures, for new and transfer students. Meet with probation and at-risk students as part of the Student Success Program, collaborating with instructors, faculty advisors, and College resources. Use Colleague system to verify majors, courses, transfer credit, and other information relative to the advising process. Document all student encounters utilizing the prescribed advising notation technologies. Monitor and document students' progress toward their educational goals. In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of student Affairs implement and assess the early alert process. Foster student self-advocacy and independence by teaching students how to navigate online systems and processes while connecting them to information and learning opportunities. Establish regular communication and meetings with assigned students to encourage continued success and completion, proactively addressing issues that may arise. Transfer Pathway Development and Management Facilitate the process for new and updated articulation agreements for the College. Provide support to partner schools to encourage matriculation of transfer students. Coordinate Lunch & Learns, classroom visits, and other events with 4-year college and university staff. Assist the Registrar with developing advising tracks within the Colleague system. Work cross-divisionally and collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and other College departments to increase student success, retention, and completion rates. Professional Development and Training In collaboration with Student Affairs leadership, develop and deliver training for advisors. Plan and conduct events to encourage advisor/student interaction and connection. Attend scheduled training sessions and stay abreast of curriculum and policy changes. Maintain and uphold FERPA regulations. Serve on College committees as assigned. Engage in professional development through organizations such as the Ohio Academic Advising Association (OHAAA), and Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE). Attend various external events that focus on transfer topics. Participate in special advising initiatives and projects as directed by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. Other duties as assigned. Sick Leave: Edison State employees receive 3 weeks of sick leave each year which begins accruing on the employees first pay period. Holiday Pay: At the start of their employment employees are eligible to receive pay for the 11 holidays for which the campus is closed. Tuition Waiver: Edison State employees receive 100% of their instructional fees waived for any Edison State courses they take.   Dependents (spouse or children) of full time Edison State employees receive the same 100% waiver for Edison State course instructional fees and dependents of part time employees receive a partial waiver. Tuition Reimbursement: Edison State offers partial tuition reimbursement for continued education. Health Club Contribution: Edison State will pay a portion of an employee's yearly premiums for a health club membership.  Memberships to some local YMCA organizations can be payroll deducted. Edison State Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time position of the Coordinator of Transfer Pathways. The Coordinator of Transfer Pathways provides comprehensive academic, career, and transfer advising services, using the Guided Pathways model, to students pursuing transfer pathways at Edison State Community College. This position implements effective retention strategies to promote student success and completion through direct student engagement and case management. The Coordinator serves as resource in all matters related to supporting Transfer Pathways students in their educational pursuits. Working closely with other College stakeholders, the Coordinator plays a significant role in enrollment events. The position requires comprehensive knowledge of advising policies and a fundamental understanding of financial aid processes. The Coordinator collaborates extensively with faculty, academic deans, and departments across the College, including financial aid, registration, student life, athletics, and other student services. Additionally, the Coordinator participates in new student orientation and represents Edison State at both internal and external special events related to transfer education.

Responsibilities:

Transfer Student Advising and Support

  • Meet with new and transfer students for initial in-depth advising, career planning, and mapping out an initial Student Education Plan (SEP) using the Guided Pathways model.
  • Instruct transfer students in the transfer process, and maintain comprehensive knowledge of transfer advising resources, including articulation agreements, Transfer Module, Transferology, and other transfer tools.
  • Interpret and apply Edison's assessment/placement model, including the use of multiple measures, for new and transfer students.
  • Meet with probation and at-risk students as part of the Student Success Program, collaborating with instructors, faculty advisors, and College resources.
  • Use Colleague system to verify majors, courses, transfer credit, and other information relative to the advising process.
  • Document all student encounters utilizing the prescribed advising notation technologies.
  • Monitor and document students' progress toward their educational goals.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of student Affairs implement and assess the early alert process.
  • Foster student self-advocacy and independence by teaching students how to navigate online systems and processes while connecting them to information and learning opportunities.
  • Establish regular communication and meetings with assigned students to encourage continued success and completion, proactively addressing issues that may arise.

Transfer Pathway Development and Management

  • Facilitate the process for new and updated articulation agreements for the College.
  • Provide support to partner schools to encourage matriculation of transfer students.
  • Coordinate Lunch & Learns, classroom visits, and other events with 4-year college and university staff.
  • Assist the Registrar with developing advising tracks within the Colleague system.
  • Work cross-divisionally and collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Workforce Development, and other College departments to increase student success, retention, and completion rates.

Professional Development and Training

  • In collaboration with Student Affairs leadership, develop and deliver training for advisors.
  • Plan and conduct events to encourage advisor/student interaction and connection.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions and stay abreast of curriculum and policy changes.
  • Maintain and uphold FERPA regulations.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Engage in professional development through organizations such as the Ohio Academic Advising Association (OHAAA), and Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE).
  • Attend various external events that focus on transfer topics.
  • Participate in special advising initiatives and projects as directed by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of transfer advising principles and practices, including articulation agreements and transfer credit evaluation processes
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Guided Pathways model and student success strategies for transfer-oriented students
  • Working knowledge of applying data-informed decision making to support student retention and completion
  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex academic requirements and transfer policies to students
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and ability to work with various student, faculty, and staff populations
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all levels of students, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and student information systems
  • Ability to manage several projects with multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Understanding of Edison State's Career Pathways model and Guided Pathways approach

Required Educational Background:

Bachelor degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Degree in counseling, student personnel or higher education student services is preferred.

Required Experience:

Three or more years experience in counseling, student personnel, or higher education student services.

Serving students within a community college setting is preferred.

Other:

Occasional evening and weekend work required.

Supervises following staff:

This position supervises student workers employed in Student Affairs.

  • An option for an alternate retirement plan is also available.  Employee and employer contributions would be the same as above.

Vacation:

Professional/Technical employees receive 3 weeks of vacation each year which begins accruing on the employee's first pay period.  After five years of employment with Edison State the Professional/Technical employee will receive 3.5 weeks each year, after ten years this increases to 4 weeks, after fifteen years the employee will receive 4.5 weeks of vacation and this once again increases to 5 weeks after twenty years of employment with the college.

Sick Leave:

Edison State employees receive 3 weeks of sick leave each year which begins accruing on the employees first pay period.

Holiday Pay:

At the start of their employment employees are eligible to receive pay for the 11 holidays for which the campus is closed.

Tuition Waiver:

  • Edison State employees receive 100% of their instructional fees waived for any Edison State courses they take.  
  • Dependents (spouse or children) of full time Edison State employees receive the same 100% waiver for Edison State course instructional fees and dependents of part time employees receive a partial waiver.

Tuition Reimbursement:

Edison State offers partial tuition reimbursement for continued education.

Health Club Contribution:

Edison State will pay a portion of an employee's yearly premiums for a health club membership.  Memberships to some local YMCA organizations can be payroll deducted.

The college also provides an on-site fitness center to employees, students and the community at no charge.
