Job Summary In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting children (5 years of age- 12 years of age) to and from childcare center to assigned local schools and field trips. The Bus Driver ensures that the bus is regularly maintained, refueled, visual safety check to ensure safe for driving and conscientious about staying on schedule in a safe manner. In addition, driver must be able to enter and exit vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Ensure each child's safety by maintaining vehicle functionality regularly and implementing safety procedures with the center Director. Visually observe the health of each child on the bus. Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus. Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult upon leaving bus. Bus inspections, maintaining scheduled bus/van maintenance, and bus cleaning is required daily. Transport bus for servicing to mechanics and for routine oil change, state inspections and need repairs. Responsible for the morning (7:00a- 9:30a) and afternoon (2:30p- 4:30p) bus runs Monday through Friday. Requirements The Bus Driver should have previous driving experience and be comfortable working with groups of children ranging from (5 years of age- 12 years of age). At least a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Current physical, and ability to pass BCI/FBI background check. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Comfortable driving a 14-passenger bus. Experience driving a school bus or similar vehicle preferred. Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to transporting children. Seasonal requirements would include field trips and some supervision support while there. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff. Reliable, compassionate, and able to create a warm, nurturing and responsive environment for children and families. We are seeking a Bus Driver to add to our growing team at a Gold Rated (SUTQ), NAC-Accredited childcare and preschool center located at 7115 Woodland Ave, Cleveland, OH 44104.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting children (5 years of age- 12 years of age) to and from childcare center to assigned local schools and field trips. The Bus Driver ensures that the bus is regularly maintained, refueled, visual safety check to ensure safe for driving and conscientious about staying on schedule in a safe manner. In addition, driver must be able to enter and exit vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Driver Responsibilities

  • Driving a 14-passenger school bus and/or 6 passenger minivan. (No CDL Required).
  • Potential Candidate should have previous driving experience and be comfortable with groups of children (5 years of age- 12 years of age).
  • Driver must always wear safety bely assembly while driving and maintain appropriate management.
  • Ensure that all passengers wear seat belts.
  • Ensure each child's safety by maintaining vehicle functionality regularly and implementing safety procedures with the center Director.
  • Comply with ODJFS state licensing guidelines and requirements regarding transportation.
  • Assist in documentation for attendance and transportation services provided.
  • Visually observe the health of each child on the bus.
  • Ensure that no child is ever left unattended while on the bus.
  • Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult upon leaving bus.
  • Bus inspections, maintaining scheduled bus/van maintenance, and bus cleaning is required daily.
  • Transport bus for servicing to mechanics and for routine oil change, state inspections and need repairs.
  • Responsible for the morning (7:00a- 9:30a) and afternoon (2:30p- 4:30p) bus runs Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • The Bus Driver should have previous driving experience and be comfortable working with groups of children ranging from (5 years of age- 12 years of age).
  • At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Current physical, and ability to pass BCI/FBI background check.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving a 14-passenger bus.
  • Experience driving a school bus or similar vehicle preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations related to transporting children.
  • Seasonal requirements would include field trips and some supervision support while there.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Reliable, compassionate, and able to create a warm, nurturing and responsive environment for children and families.
  • Must be dependable and maintain a good work record as to punctuality and daily attendance.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and/or move a child repetitively weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a moderate to noisy work environment.
  • Ability to assist children in an emergency situation.
  • Withstand outdoor temperatures and condition for extended periods of time during all seasons.
