About Axcend
Axcend builds the industry's smallest-footprint, micro-flow HPLC systems so scientists can “bring the lab to the sample” and get reliable, lab-quality results anywhere—while using a fraction of the solvents and power of legacy systems. Our Focus LC® platform, with accessories like AutoFocus™ and InFocus™, helps customers reduce waste, shrink energy use, and simplify workflows in the lab, in the hood, and in the field. We value practical innovation, integrity, and a hands-on, collaborative culture where people own outcomes.
The Role
We're hiring a part-time Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator to keep our office, labs, and shipments running smoothly. You'll own day-to-day purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory accuracy, and vendor coordination so our engineering and operations teams can move fast. This is a great role for a detail-oriented self-starter who enjoys organizing, communicating with suppliers and carriers, and improving processes. Ideal for a professional seeking challenging, part-time work with meaningful responsibility and hands-on variety.
What you'll do
- Purchasing & vendor coordination: Create/track POs, confirm lead times, follow up on backorders, and negotiate routine buys for parts, consumables, and services.
- Shipping & receiving: Pack and ship domestic/international orders and RMAs; prepare labels and paperwork; schedule pickups; reconcile BOLs and packing slips; resolve exceptions.
- Inventory management: Maintain accurate counts (cycle counts, adjustments), kit work orders, track min/max levels, and stage materials for builds.
- Documentation & systems (Fishbowl): Keep Fishbowl Inventory records current (POs, receipts, serials/lot codes); maintain shipping, receiving, and inventory SOPs.
- Logistics support: Coordinate with carriers; compare rates/transit times; monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
- Office operations support: Order supplies; help with facility vendors; pitch in on general office tasks as needed (hands-on role in a small, collaborative team).
What you'll bring
- Education: Bachelor's degree (4-year) preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, and/or shipping/receiving (internships/co-ops count).
- Tools & skills: Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets; strong attention to detail; clear written & verbal communication; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Physical: Able to lift 30–40 lbs occasionally and stand for periods while packing/receiving.
Nice to have
- Proficiency with Fishbowl Inventory Management System.
- Experience with UPS/FedEx/DHL portals/rate shopping; basic international shipping knowledge (commercial invoices, harmonized codes, Incoterms).
- Familiarity with purchasing best practices (supplier quotes, terms, price breaks) and cycle counting/5S.
- Exposure to hardware/electro-mechanical parts or lab equipment.
Why Axcend
- Join a mission-driven team advancing compact, sustainable analytical instruments with real-world impact.
- Work closely with engineering and operations—learn fast, see your contribution immediately.
- Flexible part-time schedule within defined core hours; meaningful ownership of outcomes in a growing company.
Details
- Type: Part-time employee
- Hours: 25–30 per week on-site, scheduled within 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. core hours (flexible start/end within those hours)
- Comp: $20-$30/hour depending on experience
- Reports to: COO
