Description
The Nurse Paralegal supports attorneys by reviewing and organizing medical records, preparing detailed chronologies, conducting medical research, and analyzing treatment data to support case strategy. This role also assists with expert coordination, prepares materials for hearings and trials, issues medical record requests, and manages communication with counsel, clients, and vendors.
Primary Job Duties:
- Record daily billable time in time and billing system
- Organize, analyze and maintain medical files
- Review, organize and prepare medical and event chronologies or summaries of medical care
- Update chronologies or summaries as new records are received
- Perform medical research on relevant issues
- Analyze pharmacy records for consistency of provider and complaint
- Analyze medical bills for providers and treatments consistent with chief complaints and for the cause of the action
- Assist attorneys and staff with medical issues, deciphering handwriting, and answering questions
- Locate, contact and/or interview parties, witnesses, and experts regarding their care, treatment and/or opinions
- Prepare medical records to be provided to experts and maintain a record of the same
- Prepare materials for meetings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including preparation of exhibits and notebooks
- Prepare and issue Non-Party Requests for medical, pharmacy and/or billing records and ensure all such records are received along with necessary Certification of Authenticity
- Communicate with opposing counsel, co-counsel, clients, insureds, expert witnesses, court personnel, and others, to facilitate progress of cases
- Communicate with vendors regarding copying, preparation of exhibits, and imaging
- Any other related tasks that may be assigned by Management or Supervising Attorney(s)

- Nurse Paralegal: 2-5 years (Required)
- Preparing medical chronologies: 2 years (Preferred)
