To deliver quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders.  To support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : ·         Administers patient medications prescribed by physician. ·         Assists Dietary Staff in identifying patients on special diets and assuring patients' compliance with dietary orders. ·         Completes nursing assessments under supervision of RN. ·         Updates treatment care plans under supervision of RN. ·         Participate in treatment planning:  (a) helps identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; (b) suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior; (c) providing input into discharge planning. ·         Participate in implementing patients' treatment plans by:  (a) monitoring patients' progress; (b) communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with patient, family members, and referral sources in patients' interest; (d) facilitates or co-facilitates groups; (e) encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervising patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) providing input during shift report. ·         Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation. ·         Orient new patients to unit, program, and milieu. ·         Carry out general nursing care assistance as assigned and supervised by nurse in charge. ·         Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients. ·         Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs. ·         Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations. ·         Accurate and litigable documentation that meets current standards and policies. ·         Treats and cares for patients competently and as based on current developmental theories and psychiatric nursing knowledge and standards. ·         Understands a wide range of psychosocial, cognitive and/or developmental disorders and physical disabilities. ·         Ensures patient care and environment that optimizes patient safety. ·         Upholds the Organization’s ethics and customer service standards. To deliver quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision to patients who are hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric or emotional disorders.  To support the hospital and program philosophy of care; to ensure the safety and well-being of each patient.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Administers patient medications prescribed by physician.

·         Assists Dietary Staff in identifying patients on special diets and assuring patients' compliance with dietary orders.

·         Completes nursing assessments under supervision of RN.

·         Updates treatment care plans under supervision of RN.

·         Participate in treatment planning:  (a) helps identify patients' problems, needs, and strengths; (b) suggesting modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior; (c) providing input into discharge planning.

·         Participate in implementing patients' treatment plans by:  (a) monitoring patients' progress; (b) communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team; (c) maintains communication with patient, family members, and referral sources in patients' interest; (d) facilitates or co-facilitates groups; (e) encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities; (f) supervising patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment; (g) providing input during shift report.

·         Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises by using accepted intervention techniques.

·         Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult/adolescent psychiatric population helpful

·         Familiarity of psycho pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with child, adolescent or adult psychiatric population preferred.
