Overview
Job Description
- Setting up and operating CNC lathes for short-run production.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and process procedures.
- Inspecting parts using precision measuring instruments and gauges.
- Reading, understanding, and performing minor edits to G-code programs.
- Performing machining operations on two machines within a work cell.
- Applying strong shop math, trigonometry, and geometry skills for setups and offsets.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Following all safety and environmental regulations, and reporting any incidents to the Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager.
- Working independently while maintaining productivity and accuracy expectations.
- 5–10 years of CNC Lathe setup and operation experience.
- Demonstrated experience in short-run production machining.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and written procedures.
- Proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Ability to read, understand, and edit G-code.
- Solid math skills: shop math, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Proven commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Strong ownership of quality and personal work output.
- Experience operating in multi-machine work cells.
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience with small-batch or prototype machining.
