Position Summary Responsible for the supervision of nursing students in a clinical or campus laboratory setting under the direction of the course faculty.  The nursing adjunct instructor is responsible for all experiences for nursing students in a clinical or laboratory setting involving the delivery of nursing care to an individual or group of individuals during the nursing student’s clinical or laboratory experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implements clinical or laboratory outcomes within the framework of the course in which the student is enrolled, in conjunction with the course faculty. Communicates clinical or laboratory objectives to the student, preceptor, and the staff at the clinical site. Provides orientation for each student to the environment of the clinical site or laboratory environment. Makes assignments consistent with the specific objectives or outcomes of the course in which the student is enrolled. Provides supervision of each student in accordance with rule 4723-5-20 of the Administrative Code. Provides input for evaluation of the student’s experience, achievement, and progress in relation to the clinical/laboratory objectives. Attends nursing faculty meetings and committee meetings as requested. Maintains competence in area of expertise. Maintains availability to students by telephone and/or appointment to answer questions and provide assistance. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations. Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail. Proficient with learning management systems. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students. Demonstrated ability to advise students. Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Effective problem-solving skills. Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules. Education and/or Work Experience: Completion of an approved professional nursing education program. Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse. A baccalaureate degree in nursing required; enrollment in a graduate level course of a program for a registered nurse to master’s degree with a major in nursing preferred for clinical positions.  Master’s degree in nursing to teach in laboratory. Current active licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio required. Certificates and  Licenses: Current active license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio required. Position Summary

Responsible for the supervision of nursing students in a clinical or campus laboratory setting under the direction of the course faculty.  The nursing adjunct instructor is responsible for all experiences for nursing students in a clinical or laboratory setting involving the delivery of nursing care to an individual or group of individuals during the nursing student’s clinical or laboratory experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements clinical or laboratory outcomes within the framework of the course in which the student is enrolled, in conjunction with the course faculty.
  • Communicates clinical or laboratory objectives to the student, preceptor, and the staff at the clinical site.
  • Provides orientation for each student to the environment of the clinical site or laboratory environment.
  • Makes assignments consistent with the specific objectives or outcomes of the course in which the student is enrolled.
  • Provides supervision of each student in accordance with rule 4723-5-20 of the Administrative Code.
  • Provides input for evaluation of the student’s experience, achievement, and progress in relation to the clinical/laboratory objectives.
  • Attends nursing faculty meetings and committee meetings as requested.
  • Maintains competence in area of expertise.
  • Maintains availability to students by telephone and/or appointment to answer questions and provide assistance.

  • CPR certification required
  • Specialty certification in area of expertise is preferred but not required.
