Credentials and Experience:

  1. An Associate's degree or higher in a related area of study (ACCSC)
  2. 5 years of healthcare related professional experience to include a minimum of 2 years experience as a RN or VN within the last 5 years.
  3. Shall have completed or be currently attending a course offered by an approved program to certify competency in teaching adult learners.
  4. Current CA license as RN or VN - must be in good standing
  5. At least one or more of the following (BVNPT requirement): 
    1. Baccalaureate degree from accredited school or
    2. Valid Teaching Credential, or
    3. Completion of 1 year full-time teaching experience in state accredited or approved RN, VN within last 5 years, or
    4. Meets CA community college or state university teaching requirements
      1. Associates degree plus 6 years of experience or,
      2. Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience
  6. Completion of 24-hour Principle of Teaching the Adult Learner Course OR Teaching/Learning college course credits

Employment Status: Adjunct, hourly, non-exempt.

  • Adjunct faculty hours are determined by the scheduled courses in a particular module. Adjunct faculty are scheduled as needed with no guarantee of hours at any time and scheduled hours are generally under 25 per week.
