Job Details With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Director of Nursing Education and Professional Development, in collaboration with senior leadership, has operational authority and responsibility to organize, manage and provide oversight for the financial, human and other resources for nursing professional development and education and establishes a culture of best practices for clinical nursing staff. He/She creates a collaborative and efficient work environment with a focus on quality standards and the provision of quality patient care using evidence-based research and best practices. Possesses excellent communication skills, demonstrates strong ability to work with a team, has an in-depth knowledge of the health care industry, establishes and maintains a culture of research and discovery, and, has excellent ability to lead and develop staff. Job Description Essential Functions Interacts with co-workers, leaders, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Integrates Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, patients, their family/designated care partner(s) preferences and cultural beliefs and values for delivery of optimal healthcare. Makes decisions on developing professional practice across -his/her divisional campuses/region. Maintains accountability for fiscal matters of the Nursing Professional Development team. Creates strategies that develop standardized processes and practices to improve efficiency, maximizing continuity of patient care while maintaining professional standards within disciplines and across patient care centers. In conjunction with senior leadership, establishes role accountabilities and expectations, performance standards, and methods for measuring/monitoring of standards for nursing in collaboration with enterprise Nursing SVPs and CNOs. Develops strategies that inform and support standard approaches to nursing (all roles) onboarding in acute care settings Establishes mechanisms to continually evaluate and respond to short- and long-term operational and fiscal needs. Demonstrates expert skill in facilitation and consensus-building: Demonstrates ability to work with all levels of staff, including administrators, executive leaders, physicians and peers. Highly effective working in interprofessional collaborative teams. Understands broader group goals: Expert comprehension of nursing contributions to institution-wide initiatives in acute care settings and health system level. Serves as a main point of contact for senior leaders across the region regarding topics of nursing practice/operations. Supports the development, pursuit and achievement of organizational goals. Collaborates with interdisciplinary leadership team members to develop and execute initiatives addressing the learning needs of professional nurses to meet the needs of the diverse patient population across the region. Creates and implements a shared vision for Nursing Professional Development throughout the Region that ensures communication and collaboration across facilities. Conducts ongoing assessments of the state of NPD operations within the divisional campuses within a region and develops strategic plans that foster integration and standardization of best practices to support professional development and improve performance and system efficiencies. Leads divisional campuses/regional initiatives to facilitate professional growth of professional development teams through the promotion of academic advancement and attainment of certification. Advances the nursing profession by increasing nurse-led evidence-based practice projects and research studies throughout the region and supports dissemination of the work through publications and conference presentations at the regional and national level. Contributes to an annual report to chronicle divisional campus/regional progress made toward implementing goals and initiatives. Exhibits expertise on practice and regulatory compliance: Expert knowledge and application of national, state and institutional nursing regulations, education, clinical training, licensure, certification and scope of practice. Advocates for top of license practice. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; MSN or related health care related degree required. PhD or DNP strongly preferred. Displays effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates competency in teaching/learning process, organizational skills and computer literacy. AND Experience: Ten years of nursing experience required to include five years ’ experience of hospital clinical practice and demonstrated leadership management capabilities. Five years of progressive experience in nursing professional development. Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements: Current RN licensure in state of practice AHA BLS certification. Nursing Professional Development certifications: NPD-BC, NE-BC, NEA-BC or equivalent is a desired or preferred certification Salary Range $148,428.59 to $211,511.22 Annual The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual incentive.
