Answers call lights and attends to/reports patient needs. Obtains weights, vital signs and reports results Implements patient care plan established by the RN to meet the patient needs. Obtains specimens and transport to and sends through designated tube. Transfers, moves and repositions patients Transports patients Operates all equipment in a safe manner. Assist with l procedures/care in a safe manner Obtains specimens and transport as applicable Updates patient intake/output including oral intake only, measured urine output, and measured urinary catheter output and other tubes after emptying. Upon request, is able to gather equipment that will be needed to control emergency patient care situations. Clerical Duties all Areas 25% Responsible for clinical and clerical functions of the respective unit. Performs secretarial duties for the unit including but not limited to faxing, copying, mailing, and typing any essential material. Answers telephone promptly and courteously using proper telephone etiquette and routes calls and messages appropriately. Ability to work both in the clinical and clerical setting. Implements appropriate preventative measure for patients identified with safety risks (i.e. falls). Schedules follow-up appointments and consults ensuring patient has appropriate information and provides patients with directions to the areas involved. Schedules and prepares patients for labs, diagnostic procedures, OR, and radiation treatment (i.e. CT, MRI, Bone Scan, etc.) Retrieves and/or assists clinical personnel in retrieving diagnostic studies from OTG and/or UMHC/JMH lab computers as needed. Retrieves and prints schedules for the next day. Enter in the next day Daily Lab Sheet, Daily Labs and Lab Orders for the next shift. All forms must be completed. Enter in the ADT sheet all admissions, discharges and transfers. Label all charts appropriately and completely. Make sure all OPD charges are entered in the computer appropriately. Make certain Ambulance log is properly filled out and completed. Assures that Kardex entries are completed, updated and properly placed back in card holder daily. Ensure equipment on Unit is working properly. Orders supplies for stock room. Maintains area stocked with the necessary supplies and forms. Checks PA system on a daily basis. Mail is to be picked up daily from the Mailroom. Able to function as a monitor Tech when appropriate. What you will do in this role:

  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age
  • Provides morning care which may include bed bath, shower or whirlpool, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, changing bed linens, cleaning over bed table and bedside stand, straightening room and other general care as necessary throughout the day
  • Provides evening care which includes hands/face washing as needed, oral hygiene, back rubs, peri-care, freshening linen, cleaning over bed tables, straightening room and other general care as needed
  • Prepares patients for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients if necessary
  • Answers patient call lights, anticipates patient's needs and makes rounds to assigned patients
  • Assists patients with the handling of personal property: dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices, etc
  • Reports and, when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and unusual incidents
  • Assists licensed nursing staff with treatment procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Completion of course for nursing assistants
  • Current state certification as a Nursing Assistant
  • CPR/BCLS Certification
  • Minimum six months experience in an acute or long term facility preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
