Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse preceptor the Graduate Nurse participates in the following program: The intent of this RN preceptor/GN is to create a learning environment for the GN to experience highly complex patient care within a nursing care delivery system at the unit level while awaiting RN licensure. The goal of this training program is to facilitate the transition of all GNs to a Full-Time role as a Registered Nurse within a Deaconess Illinois Hospital at the time the GN presents a verifiable, full, and unrestricted license to practice as an RN in the state of Illinois. Registered Nurse licensure will be able to be obtained within a timeframe not to exceed 60 days. Position Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must clearly demonstrate all required competencies. Education and Experience: Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional nursing and applied for and/or awaiting results of first NCLEX exam. Individuals who do not pass the NCLEX on the first attempt may remain in orientation in their current position with the understanding that they must retake the NCLEX within 60 days. If the second attempt is unsuccessful, employee would be removed from the Graduate Nurse position. Employees will not be in Graduate Nurse position for a period greater than four months. Licenses/Certificates: Able to obtain a license to practice in the State of Illinois Degree from a nationally accredited school of professional nursing and applied for and/or awaiting results of first NCLEX exam.
