Performs duties in a centralized monitoring environment that monitors patients across multiple departments. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Provides patient care as delegated by the RN, including, but not limited to, non-sterile soaks, application of non-sterile simple dressings, perineal care, and removal of foley catheters. Performs data collection, including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and basic or sterile specimen collection. Properly documents and maintains data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients, and changes in patient status. Performs point-of-care testing as trained and delegated by an RN. Reports lab values to RN. Runs errands, answers the telephone, and responds to call lights. Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures. Receives report from the previous shift and documents strips per policy. Continually observes cardiac monitors and reports any changes in cardiac rhythm to the appropriate RN. Completes telemetry summary report per policy guidelines. Responsible for the management and distribution of transmitter boxes. Ensures transmitter boxes are returned to the surveillance center in a timely manner after discontinuation of telemetry monitoring. Reports problems regarding poor transmission, etc. to the appropriate unit and personnel. Reports telemetry system failures to designated personnel and departments. Triages incoming phone calls, provides appropriate information and logs all phone calls. Maintains adequate telemetry supplies and keeps the monitoring areas and equipment clean and organized. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive. Minimum Requirements Education- Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program. Experience- No experience required.
