Nursing Administrative Coordinator

Nursing Administrative Coordinator Rasmussen University Bloomington, MN The Rasmussen University Nursing Administrative Coordinator works closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure ongoing communication and implementation of key academic processes and procedures are in place on a Rasmussen University campus. The Nursing Administrative Coordinator is responsible for general administration of cyclical academic processes and assists the Faculty and Dean of Nursing with adherence to all University policies and procedures. The Nursing Administrative Coordinator plays a key role interfacing with our students to ensure their concerns or questions have been addressed and that our students have been informed about campus resources to assist them in their academic journeys. Responsibilities: The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities consistent with the function. The employee is expected to perform all other duties as requested, directed, and/or assigned. Documentation 60% Maintains accurate and consistent records in accordance with our University and academic policies (i.e. immunization records, accreditation records, contracts, expense reports). Review of immunization documentation/records and timely communication of start-eligible versus clinical-eligible students to campus nursing leaders. Timely and diligent follow-up with students to ensure compliance and completion of immunizations to ensure students meet and maintain clinical eligibility requirements necessary to progress in the program. With the Dean of Nursing, gather and capture measurement data to be included in the Program Performance Reports (PPR) for each respective program. Implements and supports policy/procedural changes to ensure the success of students and the University. Maintains accurate ATI Content Mastery and Comprehensive Predictor completion records. Planning 35% Exam scheduling and coordination of related resources (i.e. proctor, classroom) whether for ATI or course testing. Includes coordinating to ensure students with accommodations have their exam scheduling needs met as part of exam scheduling activities. Coordinate with nursing campus leaders and maintain the nursing testing schedule including scheduling of exam proctor(s). Assists with course scheduling including planning of campus master schedule of course offerings both short term and long term. Assists the Dean of Nursing in coordinating academic meetings, new faculty orientation, advisory board meetings, student orientations, and other events led on campus by the School of Nursing. Related activities may include securing the meeting space, sending meeting invitation and tracking attendance, compiling agendas and related resources, etc. Professionalism 15% Demonstrates skilled oral, written, and electronic communication that reflects an awareness of self and others, along with an ability to convey ideas in a variety of contexts. Maintains an accurate knowledge of programmatic academic expectations. Works closely with Dean of Nursing as well as campus-based and central teams to support various processes. Maintains current and accurate knowledge of student service resources and policies, including: Student academic support services including tutoring, community resources, learning plans, and learning center support. Reporting Relationship: The Nursing Administrative Coordinator reports directly to the Dean of Nursing. Position Requirements: Minimum of two years of administrative, customer-interfacing experience in a fast-paced organization. Associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred Detail-oriented, service-oriented, student-centered. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and reprioritize as needed to achieve established outcomes/goals by due dates. Adaptable/flexible. Functions as an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. ; Needs to understand the patients condition to ensure their care and safety. Patient Care- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct/non-direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. a. Observes, obtains and reports patient data/status to assigned RN. b. Responds to peeks in acuity and emergent situations as directed by nursing staff. Professional Development- Maintains current knowledge/certification. a. Maintains BLS certification. b. Functions as a preceptor to new employees. c. Displays the ability to accept and respond appropriately to feedback and recommendations for change. d. Demonstrates professional working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines to promote a positive/encouraging workplace. e. Accountable for being informed about changes in hospital policy and procedure. Safety/Quality- Fosters a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment. a. Verifies patient identification with 2 identifiers prior to the start of any procedure. b. Understands individual role/responsibilities in the event of hospital codes and emergency preparedness. c. Complies with the current CDC hand hygiene guidelines through proper handwashing. Adheres to universal precautions, makes appropriate use of personal protective equipment at all times and appropriately disposes of hazardous materials. Maintains awareness of MSDS sheets and how to access. d. Demonstrates awareness of each patient's fall risk and the appropriate use of safety devices and identified safety interventions. e. Conducts patient safety rounds utilizing principles of SBAR, follows chain of command to communicate any identified patient or staff safety risks. f. Demonstrates proper body mechanics for all functions and use of patient lifts as needed. Technology a. Utilizes software applications required by department and unit standards. b. Accountable to understand how to operate in downtime. Compliance a. Works within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standards relevant to the position b. Complies with applicable policies and procedures. c. Safeguards the privacy and security of patient information. The employee complies with policies and procedures relating to SSH's privacy and security programs. d. Brings potential compliance issues to a manager, supervisor, director or VP. e. Complies with the mandatory education requirements of the compliance, privacy and security programs. Patient and Family Center Care a. Minimum Work Experience Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred. Required Classes/Skills - BLS - Basic Life Support. Job Overview: Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Manager provides the staff development expertise as a leader, educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent and researcher to nurses in the units. Supports the development of the bedside nurse and fosters empowerment through skills, experience and knowledge to achieve excellence during the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice. Requires the knowledge and skill of professional nursing theory and practice, leadership in administration, principles of effective teaching and learning, fiscal management and effective interpersonal relationships and communication. Twenty-four-hour accountability for assigned unit required. Licenses/Certificates: License to practice in the State of Illinois Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire. Compensation: Hourly Range $36.30-$54.44 Bonus: Potential for a performance-based bonus, subject to eligibility criteria and achievement of defined metrics.
