Job Description: The Pathfinders program in Colorado is a career program for individuals to be hired by Intermountain for entry-level jobs in healthcare. This title can only be used for caregivers who participate in this program. The Pathfinders CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) learns how to accurately and compassionately act as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Caregivers in this role will become skilled at basic patient care skills including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient care skills. A student in good standing, upon completion of an approved CNA program has the opportunity to advance to a Patient Care Tech (PCT) or a Home Care Aide position at Intermountain. Pathfinders participants will be required to obtain CNA certification within 180 days of being hired into the CNA Pathfinders role. The Pathfinders CNA can work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays and nights and in various facilities, as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited university (or a willingness to obtain the master's degree within 3 - 5 years of hire) is required. Either the bachelor's or master's degree must be in Nursing. Degree will be verified. Three (3) years of nursing leadership is required. Highly prefer Surgical Services nursing leadership experience. A Montana RN License is required. Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers is required. We care for chronically and critically ill or post-ICU patients who require extended hospital care. Responsibilities

  • Performing services for the patient involving bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair.
  • Answering patient lights and performing services in a timely manner that adds to the physical well-being of the patient.
  • Participating in hourly rounds.
  • Transporting patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary; assisting transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs.
  • Keeping the patient's rooms in clean and orderly condition, including making beds.
  • Maintaining unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed.

Qualifications

You will demonstrate an understanding of patient needs, ensuring that each patient feels informed and understood, as well as heard. You are passionate about providing superior quality care and you are an inventive problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment.

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent OR relevant work experience (3+ years).
  • BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Requires hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant, or experience in a related field such as a medical assistant or as an actively enrolled nursing student.

Nursing students may be considered as nurse assistants if approved by the State Practice Act.
