Keeps record of care given. Takes vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and pulse oximetry) and performs adult bedside blood glucose monitoring when appropriate. Turns and repositions patients to prevent breakdown of their skin. Changes bed linens as necessary. Transports patients and equipment as needed within the facility. Monitors patients and reports any variances to the RN for further assessment. Works collaboratively with the RN in charge to meet physicians, coworkers, management and other department’s needs. Participates in bedside shift report. Provides unit support as needed, which may include answering and relaying patient calls, accepting and relaying other communications, performing clerical tasks, completing and maintaining reports and records, or ordering supplies. I understand that it is not within my scope of practice to handle any medications that I might inadvertently come in contact with, including medications delivered in the pneumatic tube system. If I do come in contact with medications, I know to alert a licensed employee for them to handle.   • Answering emails from nursing leads 
  • Answering phone calls and providing information 
  • Providing tours on request of admissions professionals
  • Opening and sorting mail, as well as associating mail with student applications 
  • Preparing packets for mailing to leads 
  • Entering leads to Campus Vue
  • Assist with preparation for events and ceremonies   
  • Assist in maintaining order of the office, specifically supplies and materials from travel and/or events 
  • Collaboration with student ambassadors
  • Any and all other duties during the workday as assigned

The Student Assistant works primarily in the admissions office in the workspace adjacent to the front office. The Student Assistant is supervised by the Assistant Director of Admissions and the Director of Admissions. This position is designed to support the operational areas of the admissions office, although the student assistant is involved in recruitment support at times as well.

Qualifications for the position include: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Reliability/Flexibility 
  • Excellent technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Microsoft Excel) 
  • Ability to represent the College of Nursing in a professional and positive manner 
  • Intermediate knowledge of social media management
  • Physical abilities to provide tours of campus and various building tours
  • Ability to do lifting and moving of materials when required for set up, execution and clean-up for events.

Preferred requirements for the position include:

  • Availability during the day (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) Monday-Friday

  • Advanced knowledge of social media marketing and management, as well as branding

  • Advanced knowledge of editing software, such as the Adobe Suite

Pay rate: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
