The position will require extended travel and work throughout Western Kansas. Primary Function The Asphalt Paving Superintendent will schedule, coordinate, and supervise all hot-mixed asphalt (HMA) paving and paving-related activities. This role will oversee all asphalt paving operations and contribute to project completion. The Asphalt Paving Superintendent will report to the Asphalt Operations Manager. Duties & Responsibilities Schedule paving equipment (e.g. rollers, laydown machine, trucks) Manage multiple foremen and crews Order material Study project documents and plans Communicate direction from Operations Manager to staff Keep updated with current HMA mixes for quality assurance Communicate with job owner representatives and subcontractors Ensure all safety requirements and expectations are met Independently make decisions and solve front-line problems Directly supervise 1 to 5 reports Schedule, supervise, and evaluate the work as a supervisor of multiple crews or work units. Participate and recommend the hiring, termination, promotion, and performance appraisal of subordinates Solely responsible for employee discipline, goal setting, counseling and training of subordinates Actions and decisions will impact the final results of a project and has regular decision-making activities Holds moderate contact with outside suppliers, other departments, and onsite project owner representative Maintain regular contact with senior management, project engineers, and subcontractors Other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license 7-10 years' experience in the heavy highway industry, specifically asphalt paving. 1-2 years' experience in a managerial role Exposure to equipment operating and maintenance A basic understanding of mix designs and project plans Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a "Negative" result. The position will require extended travel and work throughout Western Kansas.

Primary Function

The Asphalt Paving Superintendent will schedule, coordinate, and supervise all hot-mixed asphalt (HMA) paving and paving-related activities. This role will oversee all asphalt paving operations and contribute to project completion. The Asphalt Paving Superintendent will report to the Asphalt Operations Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Schedule paving equipment (e.g. rollers, laydown machine, trucks)
  • Manage multiple foremen and crews
  • Order material
  • Study project documents and plans
  • Communicate direction from Operations Manager to staff
  • Keep updated with current HMA mixes for quality assurance
  • Communicate with job owner representatives and subcontractors
  • Ensure all safety requirements and expectations are met
  • Independently make decisions and solve front-line problems
  • Directly supervise 1 to 5 reports
  • Schedule, supervise, and evaluate the work as a supervisor of multiple crews or work units.
  • Participate and recommend the hiring, termination, promotion, and performance appraisal of subordinates
  • Solely responsible for employee discipline, goal setting, counseling and training of subordinates
  • Actions and decisions will impact the final results of a project and has regular decision-making activities
  • Holds moderate contact with outside suppliers, other departments, and onsite project owner representative
  • Maintain regular contact with senior management, project engineers, and subcontractors
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license
  • 7-10 years' experience in the heavy highway industry, specifically asphalt paving.
  • 1-2 years' experience in a managerial role
  • Exposure to equipment operating and maintenance
  • A basic understanding of mix designs and project plans
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a "Negative" result.
  • Must be able to complete a post-offer physical with a "Capable" result
