Job Description
TAMKO is seeking a Plant Systems Vision Engineer. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and sustaining traditional and AI computer/machine vision solutions to ensure the quality of building product materials.
Summary of Essential Functions

- Develop vision algorithms and AI models for inspection tasks in a manufacturing environment.
- Collect diverse image datasets necessary for training robust vision models. This includes identifying relevant data sources, ensuring a balance of data types, and annotating images accurately.
- Oversee and execute the cleaning and preprocessing of image data to ensure high-quality inputs for model training.
- Develop and maintain preprocessing pipelines that enhance data usability and model performance, incorporating techniques such as noise reduction, normalization, and data augmentation.
- Implement data and sensor fusion techniques to integrate additional sensors into vision algorithms where appropriate.
- Continuously evaluate and refine existing models based on new data or feedback to enhance performance and reliability.
- Design validation tests to ensure models perform as expected under various conditions. Implement robust testing frameworks to assess the performance of the vision systems.
- Document and recommend vision best practices.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in computer vision to propose and experiment with new techniques that could improve system performance.
- Collaborate with other groups within TAMKO to improve profitability and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related fields with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in relevant engineering or strong technical knowledge and experience in computer vision in a manufacturing environment).
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++, or other relevant programming languages.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks.
- Experience with computer vision models.
- Experience in handling and processing large datasets, especially image data.
- Knowledge of data augmentation techniques and understanding of different image formats.
- Experience in integrating AI models into larger systems.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience in deploying vision defect detection in manufacturing industries.
- Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) in fields related to computer vision or machine learning.
- Experience with SQL.
- Experience with CUDA libraries.
- Experience with commercial vision software packages Experience with statistical testing and/or conducting measurement system analysis.
- Experience with edge computing devices for deploying vision models in a low-latency environment.
- Experience in nondestructive testing.
- Experience with project management, especially agile.
- Experience with creating standardized training documents.
