Roles and Responsibilities Establishes & Enforces policies and procedures that support export compliance. Provides assistance to the company in all aspects of export/import & regulatory compliance. Represents the Company as a technical expert with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations when speaking with the Department of State, Department of Commerce, & ATF Representatives. Applies for all export & import licenses while maintaining maintains all required export and import documentation according to U.S. law and Company policy. Ensures all export classifications of exported items are current and accurate. Maintains a database of export classifications. Reviews international sales orders to ensure that proposed transactions are screened for Denied Persons and Entities, sanctions, restricted end use and diversion. Conducts random audits of export logs, shipping procedures and AES submittals. Manages customs brokers and export compliance consultant. Coordinate with Customers brokers and Freight Forwarders facilitate successful Export shipments in support of international customer orders. Performs post-entry audits against customs broker electronic data, vendor and shipper invoices and import documentation. Resolves discrepancies and requests appropriate corrections as needed. Facilitates and supports the training of individuals and groups pertaining to export and import regulations, responsibilities, and requirements. Reviews & maintains all NDAs for the Company and maintains log with status of expiration. Possesses strong research abilities. Continuous learner by showing commitment to staying updated on changes in export regulations and industry best practices. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Continuously monitor the organization’s adherence to regulations and report on the status of compliance efforts. Qualifications and Requirements Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in international business, law, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. 2 - 5 years of experience in export compliance, international trade, logistics, or a related field. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Required Skills/Abilities: In-depth knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, and other relevant international trade regulations. Experience in the industry in which the company operates, such as aerospace, defense, technology, or manufacturing, is often preferred. Job Description

At Wilcox, the role of a Compliance Officer is vital in safeguarding the organization against legal and regulatory risks. This individual will ensure that the organization adheres to all relevant Export laws and internal policies. The Compliance Officer helps to maintain the organization's integrity, reputation, and operational effectiveness.This individual is a technical professional that is proficient in the International Traffic & Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), & Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) Regulations.The Export Compliance officer will work with all the departments within the company to ensure conformity of the Company established export compliance program.This individual routinely coordinates and manages the activities involved with exporting/importing regulated products and technical data, by working cross-departmentally with the Customer Support, Sales team, Purchasing, Engineering, and Shipping departments.This individual regularly interfaces with licensing officers, other government officials & representatives, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal and external Wilcox customers on matters pertaining to customs, Export/Import regulations, and other related subjects.This individual is part of the Inside Team consisting of Export Compliance, Customer Support, Dealer Relations, Public Relations, Graphic Designer, & VP of Sales and Marketing.Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establishes & Enforces policies and procedures that support export compliance.
  • Provides assistance to the company in all aspects of export/import & regulatory compliance. 
  • Represents the Company as a technical expert with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations when speaking with the Department of State, Department of Commerce, & ATF Representatives.
  • Applies for all export & import licenses while maintaining maintains all required export and import documentation according to U.S. law and Company policy.
  • Ensures all export classifications of exported items are current and accurate.
  • Maintains a database of export classifications.
  • Reviews international sales orders to ensure that proposed transactions are screened for Denied Persons and Entities, sanctions, restricted end use and diversion.
  • Conducts random audits of export logs, shipping procedures and AES submittals.
  • Manages customs brokers and export compliance consultant.
  • Coordinate with Customers brokers and Freight Forwarders facilitate successful Export shipments in support of international customer orders.
  • Performs post-entry audits against customs broker electronic data, vendor and shipper invoices and import documentation. Resolves discrepancies and requests appropriate corrections as needed.
  • Facilitates and supports the training of individuals and groups pertaining to export and import regulations, responsibilities, and requirements.
  • Reviews & maintains all NDAs for the Company and maintains log with status of expiration.
  • Possesses strong research abilities.
  • Continuous learner by showing commitment to staying updated on changes in export regulations and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously monitor the organization’s adherence to regulations and report on the status of compliance efforts.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in international business, law, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in export compliance, international trade, logistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, and other relevant international trade regulations.
  • Experience in the industry in which the company operates, such as aerospace, defense, technology, or manufacturing, is often preferred.
  • Familiarity with compliance software, global trade management systems, SAP and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Familiarity with Government Export Entities and Systems (DDTC, DECCS, BIS, CBP, AES)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail. Ability to meticulously review documentation and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex regulations and apply them to company operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, training materials, and communicating with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple compliance activities, deadlines, and documentation.
  • High ethical standards and integrity to ensure compliance and handle sensitive information.
  • Precision in handling and reviewing documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to anticipate compliance challenges and implement solutions proactively.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment requiring prioritization.
  • Ability to prepare and manage export documentation, including export licenses, shipping documentation, and compliance reports.
  • Competency in International Trade Compliance, Incoterms, Valuation, Duty drawback, Export Administration Regulations, ITAR Regulations, USML Regulations, Customs regulations, and product classification (ITAR CATEGORY, HTS and ECCN).
  • Knowledge of Customs regulations in countries other than the USA (NAFTA).
  • Wilcox is a U.S. government defense contractor, and this position requires access to export-controlled technology. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access U.S. government-controlled technology prior to beginning work.

  • Experience using export compliance software (e.g., SAP GTS, Descartes, Amber Road
  • Strong data management and recordkeeping abilities
  • Comfort with Excel, databases, and sometimes ERP systems
  • Analytical thinking to assess export classifications and compliance risks
  • Comprehension and technical understanding of military or similar technology.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; use hands and fingers to handle and touch objects, tools, or controls to work in a production environment. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
