This role is critical in developing systems from the ground up to ensure safe and compliant operations as we scale novel, first-of-their-kind metal production technologies that power the future economy. The ideal candidate is excited to pioneer safety strategies in emerging technologies and fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities Identify, assess, and mitigate EH&S risks associated with novel metallurgical and chemical processes Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EH&S regulations and standards across facilities Conduct and document EH&S audits, inspections, and risk assessments for operational readiness and ongoing production Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development for EH&S events Build training programs and lead site-wide EH&S training for all employees, contractors, and visitors Partner with engineering and operations teams to integrate EH&S requirements into process design, equipment procurement, and facility layout Drive a culture of proactive safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory excellence across diverse teams Manage site permitting and environmental reporting requirements to support continuous operations and future expansions Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field 8+ years of EH&S management experience in production, manufacturing, or R&D facilities, preferably within chemical, metallurgical, mining, or manufacturing industries Proven experience building EH&S programs and processes from scratch in scaling or startup environments Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state EH&S regulations and their application in complex operations Demonstrated ability to assess and manage hazards associated with novel chemical or metallurgical processes Experience conducting EH&S training and leading cultural safety initiatives Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities Plan and coordinate supply chain activities based on real-time usage data and forecasted volumes for BOM components, consumables, and spare parts Identify and develop strategic suppliers for Phoenix Tailings’ high-risk commodities (e.g., large weldments, furnace components, graphite) Leverage vendor relationships to reduce lead time risk and minimize cash outlays without compromising quality or delivery Own and manage inventory levels using ERP systems to prevent downtime due to shortages, defects, or line fallout Lead consumables cost-reduction initiatives with a goal of reducing costs by 10% per quarter to drive margin improvements Source and qualify new materials through supplier networks that can extend component life in high-temperature and corrosive environments Maintain supply chain continuity during scale-up by aligning procurement timelines with production schedules and engineering releases Ensure accurate tracking of materials and parts through lifecycle from PO to point-of-use Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Minimum of 2 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or manufacturing operations Understanding of production methods across diverse material types (e.g., machined steel, graphite, ceramics, tungsten, alumina) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) Experience with supplier quality practices including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and inspection criteria Proficiency with ERP systems and data-driven inventory management practices Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaboration across internal teams and with external suppliers Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment where urgency and quality go hand-in-hand Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered, and the successful applicants will form part of and support in the development of services and pathways to assist with increasing our Same Day Emergency Care offering, as well as flow through Acute Medicine. Clinical duties include multidisciplinary team working, which is a key component of working within the Trust and involves regular MDT discussions with colleagues; providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting; continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care (with secretarial support); development of subspecialty interests that fit in with division needs and the strategic direction of the Trust; and responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, and for contributing to undergraduate and post-graduate and continuing medical education activities. Who We Are Looking For:
Phoenix Tailings is looking for an experienced and driven EH&S Director to build and own all Environmental Health & Safety processes across our Exeter production facility, Burlington pilot production facility, and Woburn R&D site. This role is critical in developing systems from the ground up to ensure safe and compliant operations as we scale novel, first-of-their-kind metal production technologies that power the future economy. The ideal candidate is excited to pioneer safety strategies in emerging technologies and fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and mitigate EH&S risks associated with novel metallurgical and chemical processes
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EH&S regulations and standards across facilities
- Conduct and document EH&S audits, inspections, and risk assessments for operational readiness and ongoing production
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development for EH&S events
- Build training programs and lead site-wide EH&S training for all employees, contractors, and visitors
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to integrate EH&S requirements into process design, equipment procurement, and facility layout
- Drive a culture of proactive safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory excellence across diverse teams
- Manage site permitting and environmental reporting requirements to support continuous operations and future expansions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of EH&S management experience in production, manufacturing, or R&D facilities, preferably within chemical, metallurgical, mining, or manufacturing industries
- Proven experience building EH&S programs and processes from scratch in scaling or startup environments
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state EH&S regulations and their application in complex operations
- Demonstrated ability to assess and manage hazards associated with novel chemical or metallurgical processes
- Experience conducting EH&S training and leading cultural safety initiatives
Exceptional project management skills, with experience managing complex, multidisciplinary initiatives. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
