The City of Dover Community Services Department is seeking three Truck Drivers (or Laborers, depending on qualifications) to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and preventive maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and similar equipment used in the construction and maintenance of streets, drainage systems and other public works projects, and in the performance of allied duties. Employees of this class are also responsible for undertaking manual labor tasks associated with the operation of assigned equipment, such as the loading and unloading of materials and the performance of unskilled and semi-skilled work on construction and maintenance projects. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position.  $21.13 to $30.58 per hour.  Position is open until filled.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class): 1. Operate dump, flat bed, or other trucks in picking up and delivering materials, debris, tools and supplies, and road maintenance and street construction work hauling cold patch, gravel, sand, and rocks. 2. Service vehicle with gas, oil, and water and performs minor maintenance work; notifies superior and mechanics of need of repair. Assists mechanics in repair of vehicles as necessary. 3. Perform various manual labor tasks such as assisting in street patching, laying pipe, helping with manhole maintenance, and picking up debris. Assist in storm drain construction, maintenance and repair, seasonal duties include plowing snow, hauling snow and spreading sand/salt. Also performs such tasks as cutting grass, cutting brush and raking. 4. Prepare trucks and equipment, on an emergency and seasonal basis, for snow removal and other seasonal cleanup operations. 5. Knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy duty construction equipment. Sufficient physical strength, conditioning and agility to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time under varying weather and climactic conditions. Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling, raising old manhole covers and catch basins to road level for street reconstruction. 2. Provide assistance to install, repair, maintain, tap, clean and flush water mains, pipe, gates and fittings, and meters on mains and services and installation of services, fire hydrants and drinking fountains; assist in shutting off broken sections of water mains 3. Provide assistance with operation of jet truck, camera truck and other light and medium-sized construction and power equipment 4. Provide assistance with snow removal operations, either operating small trucks or sidewalk plows, or may serve as a wingman on plow. Attach and remove snow plows, sanders, and associated equipment from vehicles. 5. Assists in other activities to mitigate conditions caused by extreme weather conditions, and natural and man-made disasters. 6. Operate and perform maintenance on hand tools and other machinery which may include, but not be limited to, mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, weed whackers, etc. 7. Occasionally performs traffic control functions at job sites. 8. Operate trucks and motorized equipment as necessary. 9. Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. 10. Available 24 hours per day to meet emergency situations as required. 11. Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work. 12. Performs other related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS : Basic knowledge of and the ability to use simple hand and power tools.  Ability to perform simple and routine manual labor and perform one routine job for a prolonged period.  Sufficient physical strength, conditioning and agility to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time under adverse and varying weather and climatic conditions. POSITION OVERVIEW: This position will perform various functions in ensuring production processes run efficiently and effectively. The Team Lead must have excellent attention to detail, be self-sufficient in assembly, testing and documentation of mechanical and electrical assemblies. The Team Lead will know all processes and procedures on the line and be able to assist in monitoring workers and the efficiency of the line. Track productions numbers, line efficiency, scrap, and get materials and parts for the line when needed.  RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in monitoring workers on site during production activities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety procedures. Support the evaluation of manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality. Escalate engineering or quality assistance if machinery or product issues arise. Help ensure that products and goods manufactured meet industry quality standards. Aid in leading workers to enhance production quantity while maintaining high production standards. Check finished products to verify quality and compliance with industry standards before they are declared ready for use. Assist in maintaining records of line performance. Act as a liaison between workers and management to facilitate effective communication. Support the adherence to and contribute to the production schedule for timely project execution. Ensure the availability of work materials as needed. Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work area to ensure efficiency and safety.
