Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re looking for Environmental Technician (IH Tech 1)role ready to perform building science-related assignments and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You’ll conduct environmental testing and monitoring (mold, asbestos, lead, IAQ, and industrial hygiene) by operating sampling equipment, completing documentation and reports, coordinating with clients, and following health and safety procedures. Core Responsibilities

• Perform mold, asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, and other building science-related assignments.

• Operate and maintain testing equipment and instruments including air sampling pumps, real-time air monitoring equipment, moisture meters, IR cameras, and calibrators.

• Complete data sheets and chain of custody forms and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory.

• Interact and communicate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agency representatives in a timely manner.

• Read and understand project specifications, sampling methodologies, and building drawings.

• Perform environmental, health and safety services.

• Assist with industrial hygiene and other environmental projects.

• Prepare reports for senior review.

• Organizing and prioritizing a diverse workload; maintaining accurate records.

• Abide by Atlas' health & safety policies and procedures.

• Assist in other types of environmental testing and monitoring work. Cross training can be provided.

You’ll thrive here if you have

• Two- or Four-year college degree in environmental sciences or related field of study.

• 0-2 years field experience in environmental or hazardous materials testing.

• Must be able to wear a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment as needed.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to climb stairs/ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Valid driver's license, ability to pass driver background check.

• Must be MS Office proficient, possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with minimum supervision.

• Current USEPA AHERA Building Inspector and Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor for Vermont is preferred; however, can offer training.

• Current USEPA Lead Inspector and/or Lead Risk Assessor for Vermont is preferred; however, can offer training

• Knowledge of Vermont Asbestos and Lead Regulations preferred.

• Proficiency in AutoCad desired.

• Ability to work independently or in team setting.

• Ability to travel locally up to 90% of the time.

• Effective time management skills.

• Compensation: $24.00 - $26.00 hourly rate The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
