Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.
In the Development Platform Engineering role, you will be a critical enabler of our engineering team's productivity, innovation, and technical excellence. You will establish a robust developer experience that allows BETA to scale and will serve as a force multiplier in many different areas of the business. A good candidate will be willing to jump into an unfamiliar environment, and work to apply the same basic principles to streamline the software development process, promote packaging, CI, repeatable builds, and code quality best practices across a variety of environments. You should be passionate about repeatability, quality, automation, and reducing barriers to entry.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Design and maintain shared CI/CD infrastructure, reusable pipeline components, and best practices that enable software engineers to build, own, and evolve their own pipelines with minimal friction
  • Provide standardized environments that allow our software engineers to hit the ground running
  • Set up package registries and packaging workflows for sharing libraries between teams internally
  • Write scripts to automate development workflow processes, integrating between different systems
  • Mentor new users on project setup, best practices, Git and CI workflows, etc
  • Create and manage standardized toolchains and development environments, including Docker images, to ensure consistency, security, and efficiency across engineering teams
  • Implement AI-assisted development tools and workflows to enhance feedback loops during coding
  • Provide technical guidance and support for standardizing development practices
  • Manage and optimize development environment configurations and tooling

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related degree, and 2 years of professional experience, or at least 4 years of relevant professional experience without a degree
  • Experience with programming in at least one of the languages we use (Python, Typescript, C, C++, Matlab, Bash or other Unix shells, Powershell)
  • Proven experience implementing DevOps practices: automating build, test, and deployment workflows, improving developer velocity, and building reliable, scalable delivery pipelines.
  • Expertise in Git including modern branching strategies and workflow design
  • Proficiency in containerization and cloud infrastructure

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Experience with embedded systems development
  • GitLab CI experience
  • Familiarity with development and certification of avionics software following DO-178C, or other regulated safety critical software
  • Proven experience with Node/Typescript development toolchains
  • Experience deploying and maintaining cloud-based applications on AWS
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with potential for hybrid work arrangements
  • Requires prolonged periods of computer use
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for team collaboration or conference
