Job Description

Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again.

But Scout is more than just a brand, it's a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work.

The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn't been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements - an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.

At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion.

Join us at Scout Motors and be part of shaping the future of transportation. If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!

What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Lead the hands-on execution of Scout's home and smart charging programs, including managed charging, demand response, and Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS).
  • Pilot new features and programs with utilities, aggregators, and technology providers, ensuring technical integrations and customer experiences are tested and validated before scaling.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with utility and energy partners nationwide, serving as the primary contact for program operations, issue resolution, and rollout coordination.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on smart charging technologies, grid integration, and energy services.
  • Represent Scout in industry forums, standards bodies, regulatory discussions, and the Rivian VW Tech joint venture with all topics related to smart charging & energy management. Monitor & influence regulatory developments that impact smart charging & grid services.
  • Ensure Scout's compliance with evolving regulatory requirements & policies relating to energy management.
  • Support the development of business cases and program budgets by providing operational insights, partner feedback, and pilot results.
  • Work with Digital Products, Engineering, and UX/UI teams to define and deliver customer journeys for smart charging features across the Scout mobile app and in-vehicle systems.
  • Build the go-to-market strategy for Scout's home charging solutions, including bundled offers, installation services, and energy-focused subscription models.
  • Work with the Digital Products and Engineering teams to define and deliver in-app and in-vehicle home charging features, including charge scheduling, energy optimization, and integration with utility programs.
  • Collaborate with third-party installers, energy providers, and technology partners to scale Scout's home charging ecosystem.
  • Develop KPIs to track adoption of smart charging, customer satisfaction, and energy service enrollment, ensuring alignment to Scout's broader energy strategy.
  • Benchmark competitive OEM home charging and energy programs, integrating best practices into Scout's roadmap.
  • Act as a key liaison with regulatory and standards bodies on residential charging, grid interconnection, and bidirectional energy offerings.
  • Coordinate go-to-market execution for smart charging offers, collaborating with Product Marketing and Commercial Ops to launch pilots and scale programs.
  • Track and report on KPIs such as program enrollment, customer participation, energy savings, and feature adoption, ensuring continuous improvements to offerings.
  • Closely manage smart charging projects & integrations to ensure alignment to vehicle milestones and launch timing. Be the key liaison between engineering feature partners to deliver customer requirements.
  • Stay closely connected to regulatory and utility program developments, identifying practical opportunities for Scout to participate in incentives, pilots, and new market opportunities.
  • Benchmark competitor initiatives and industry pilots, bringing best practices back to Scout's execution playbook.
  • Provide operational support to Customer Support teams by preparing documentation and serving as an escalation point for smart charging program-related issues.
  • Ensure seamless handoff from pilot to scaled rollout by developing repeatable processes, vendor management practices, and customer support frameworks.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, CA or Charlotte, NC.

  • 12+ years of experience in EV charging, energy management, or smart grid program execution preferably at the OEM level.

  • Strong knowledge of managed charging, and demand response, with the ability to translate them into practical execution.
  • Proven ability to manage partner relationships and ensure successful delivery of joint initiatives.
  • Hands-on project management experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
  • Customer-first mindset, ensuring all pilots and programs deliver intuitive and reliable experiences.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure program outcomes, identify improvements, and feed insights back into business cases.
  • A starter mentality with the ability to cut through ambiguity, identify top priorities, and move programs forward quickly
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across internal and external stakeholders.
