About the Position Carver Companies is seeking a highly experienced Health Safety and Environmental Director to lead and develop our safety program throughout all divisions. The position will drive organizational and cultural change and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of Carver Companies within the industries we serve. Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration, the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director will develop, manage and implement EHS policies and programs across all Carver Companies sites, including Upstate NY, Charleston SC, Staten Island, New Brunswick Canada, among others. The Director will ensure the health and safety of all Carver Companies employees and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local EHS requirements. In addition, the Director will spearhead the development of a world class safety and training program, making Carver Companies a true leader in Safety and Compliance. This position will drive organizational and cultural change and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of Carver Companies within the industries we serve. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies and procedures to ensure the utmost health and safety of Carver employees, contractors and visitors; prevent negative environmental impact; and meet government regulations. Identify problem areas, implement corrective action, and successfully drive down the EMR. Manage EHS and a team of safety managers and administrators at various locations in a highly dynamic, complex organization serving such industries as Maritime, Construction, Mining, etc. Be an agent of change and establish a strong safety culture across all sites with a focus on prevention including awareness, training, ownership and early hazard identification and elimination. Develop a strong, ongoing training program, to eventually include a dedicated training center. Play a key role on the management team formulating strategy and objectives, deploying best practices across all locations. Achieve world-class safety performance as benchmarked with our industry peers. Requirements and Qualifications: 10+ years' experience as an EHS manager or similar. Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and similar regulatory standards and best practices in the industries in which we serve. Extensive EHS experience working in the maritime, construction, or mining sector preferred. This is an in-person position based in Albany, New York. Occasional travel will be required. Must have a valid Passport or Enhanced DL with ability to enter Canada. Must also have a valid, clean driver's license. Compensation and Benefits: Estimated compensation range is $100,000 to $150,000 per year. GENERAL PURPOSE: Under direction from the Transportation Safety & Security Manager and Senior Specialist(s), implements and assists in completing the transportation safety and security mission. Within an assigned region, this work includes acting as an subject-matter expert (SME) on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles; physical security protection systems; risk assessment methodologies; and the complexities related to physical security design, implementation, and life-cycle management. Supports projects continuously into operations and interfaces with other agency departments and divisions, local emergency responders, building codes officials, and federal representatives as needed/requested. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Assists Senior Specialist(s) and the Transportation Safety & Security Manager to develop internal security rules, policies and guidelines; prepares manuals, training outlines and employee standard procedures. Provides support to oversee systematic security risk activities for all modes at various rail facilities and along the alignments; assists in evaluating and completing each mode's compliance with the Agency Safety Plan's safety and security elements; interfaces with staff from other departments on behalf of the Safety Department; and promotes open communications to promote a positive safety culture and partnership with internal and external partners. Works with Design, Engineering, and Construction Management personnel regarding project reviews ensuring projects are compatible with security design criteria; Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles; and the agencies current physical security program. Works with agency personnel to identify, evaluate and resolve hazards and risks within Sound Transit facilities and administrative buildings. Assists the Senior Specialist(s) and Manager to perform security reviews of directives, rules and procedures for all modes; and to review train orders, track access, and status of train and facilities operations, as required. Reviews incident statistics and hazard reports to generate remedial recommendations and drafts summaries of any findings for further review and trend analysis. Administers the Safety and Security Certification process for assigned projects to include but not limited to attending PHA and TVA workshops; verifying safety and security items are included in the certifiable items and auditing the safety and security items prior to operations. Supports the Transportation Safety and Security Division with the Threat and Vulnerability Assessment contract; analyze and provide mitigation strategies for identified risks. Prepares written recommendations and business cases to change and upgrade Sound Transit's security program based on inspection data and surveys. Makes recommendations on security policies, procedures and standards for physical security design criteria, physical security systems implementations, maintenance, repair and life cycle management. Conducts post-incident debriefings, tracking and management of corrective actions, and generates detailed reports and management briefings. Position Details The Campus Safety Department at the University of Tampa has a position for a qualified Campus Safety Officer on the 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift. Apprehend and detain, if necessary, suspected law violators which may include physical exertion. Excellent clear and concise communication skills required. Experience in using various Safety Department equipment (two-way radio, cameras, computers, etc.). Experience in a college or university preferred . About the Position

Carver Companies is seeking a highly experienced Health Safety and Environmental Director to lead and develop our safety program throughout all divisions. The position will drive organizational and cultural change and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of Carver Companies within the industries we serve.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration, the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director will develop, manage and implement EHS policies and programs across all Carver Companies sites, including Upstate NY, Charleston SC, Staten Island, New Brunswick Canada, among others. The Director will ensure the health and safety of all Carver Companies employees and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local EHS requirements. In addition, the Director will spearhead the development of a world class safety and training program, making Carver Companies a true leader in Safety and Compliance. This position will drive organizational and cultural change and contribute to the ongoing growth and success of Carver Companies within the industries we serve.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies and procedures to ensure the utmost health and safety of Carver employees, contractors and visitors; prevent negative environmental impact; and meet government regulations.
  • Identify problem areas, implement corrective action, and successfully drive down the EMR.
  • Manage EHS and a team of safety managers and administrators at various locations in a highly dynamic, complex organization serving such industries as Maritime, Construction, Mining, etc.
  • Be an agent of change and establish a strong safety culture across all sites with a focus on prevention including awareness, training, ownership and early hazard identification and elimination.
  • Develop a strong, ongoing training program, to eventually include a dedicated training center.
  • Play a key role on the management team formulating strategy and objectives, deploying best practices across all locations.
  • Achieve world-class safety performance as benchmarked with our industry peers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years' experience as an EHS manager or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and similar regulatory standards and best practices in the industries in which we serve.
  • Extensive EHS experience working in the maritime, construction, or mining sector preferred.
  • This is an in-person position based in Albany, New York.
  • Occasional travel will be required. Must have a valid Passport or Enhanced DL with ability to enter Canada. Must also have a valid, clean driver's license.

Compensation and Benefits:

Estimated compensation range is $100,000 to $150,000 per year. Actual compensation may be higher or lower, in or outside of the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience and expertise.
