This position involves conducting risk assessments, overseeing safety training programs, managing waste disposal, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. The role requires extensive travel (75%) and active participation in site safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial construction environments, relevant certifications, and strong analytical and communication skills. Responsibilities Create and update manuals for the Health and Safety Manager. Document local site visits/inspections of the field. Conduct risk assessments as required on various process equipment and tasks to quantify risk and recommend risk reduction measures to the intended audience (i.e., production, maintenance, etc.). Coordinate, develop, organize, implement, and report on safety-related training programs for employees. Support environmental compliance by managing the waste disposal process and stormwater management. Actively participate in and lead site safety committee, first aid team, and emergency response team meetings. Plan and organize team training, emergency response planning scenarios, evacuation drills, etc. Maintain inventory of spill response materials. Assure compliance with regulatory agencies (such as, but not limited to, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, FMCSA, etc.). Coordinate, direct, and verify inspections of equipment, cranes, forklifts, etc., ensuring they are conducted at required intervals. Flexibility to work off-shift for training and during company/client shutdowns. Oversee the company's safety data sheets (SDSs) via an online database and update departmental binders. Research topics and write the monthly company safety newsletter. Review details of the company safety strategy plan and assist in executing all safety initiatives. Support the Safety Manager and ownership with safety initiatives. Intervene when identifying any unsafe activities and/or operations. Compile and analyze safety-related statistics. Obtain certifications related to safety and the steel industry. Qualifications 5+ years of experience preferred in heavy industrial construction environments. Preferred Certifications: Safety Trained Supervisor of Construction (STSC), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or relevant. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.). Strong quantitative and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Works well independently as well as within a team. Skilled in the use of technology to complete tasks. Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field from a qualified college. OSHA 30 Certified or ability to complete within 30 days of being hired. Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus. Your responsibilities include: Reviewing operations to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, or industrial hygiene standards and regulations. Providing critical support to programs and operations ensuring that safety and environmental standards are met. The PSM/PHA Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the site's Process Safety Management (PSM) program in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119. This role ensures the integrity of critical safety systems and supports risk reduction efforts across the site. Working under the direction of the Environmental, Health & Safety manager, the PSM Coordinator will play a key role in driving safe operations through strong systems, documentation, training, and audit support. The PSM/PHA coordinator will require strong knowledge of PSM elements, excellent communication and leadership skills to work with cross-functional teams, and the ability to track and drive corrective actions to closure in order to maintain a robust safety environment. Other responsibilities include: Conducting field activities in support of LM Space injury prevention and environmental compliance programs, with a focus on environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene. Thorough problem solving, and effective teaming skills are needed as well as the ability to adapt to ordnance protocol/requirements. The successful candidate will have experience with analyzing complex technical data from chemical data sheets and environmental health surveys using logic and quantitative reasoning, knowledge of environmental, safety and health regulations, and an understanding of environmental permitting and regulations. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government secret security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree in applicable or related safety, environmental, and/or industrial hygiene discipline, or related engineering/scientific degree (Chemistry, Environmental Safety and Health, Physics etc) or equivalent experience/combined education. Support the continued development, implementation, and maintenance of all 14 elements of the OSHA PSM standard. Maintain and improve PSM related documentation, databases, and procedures. Ensure procedural and regulatory compliance with internal and external requirements. Develop competence in all the PSM tools. Coordinate and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including scheduling revalidations with key stakeholder. Track completion of PHA action items and drive resolution across departments. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to address risks identified in hazard reviews. Support the recertification of operating procedures and PSM audits. Administer the MOC program to ensure all changes to process energetics, technology, equipment, or procedures are properly evaluated. Ensure completion of pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) and associated documentation. Train stakeholders in MOC requirements and monitor implementation. Participate in or lead root cause analyses and investigations for PSM level incidents. Ensure all incident findings are documented, reviewed, and resolved. Ensure training programs are in place for PSM covered employees. Maintain training records and support refresher training scheduling. Support audit preparation and coordinate internal and external PSM audits. Ability to travel occasionally Ability to acquire a Secret Security clearance and US Citizenship required. Position Overview

The Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance. This position involves conducting risk assessments, overseeing safety training programs, managing waste disposal, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. The role requires extensive travel (75%) and active participation in site safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial construction environments, relevant certifications, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update manuals for the Health and Safety Manager.
  • Document local site visits/inspections of the field.
  • Conduct risk assessments as required on various process equipment and tasks to quantify risk and recommend risk reduction measures to the intended audience (i.e., production, maintenance, etc.).
  • Coordinate, develop, organize, implement, and report on safety-related training programs for employees.
  • Support environmental compliance by managing the waste disposal process and stormwater management.
  • Actively participate in and lead site safety committee, first aid team, and emergency response team meetings. Plan and organize team training, emergency response planning scenarios, evacuation drills, etc. Maintain inventory of spill response materials.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory agencies (such as, but not limited to, OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, FMCSA, etc.).
  • Coordinate, direct, and verify inspections of equipment, cranes, forklifts, etc., ensuring they are conducted at required intervals.
  • Flexibility to work off-shift for training and during company/client shutdowns.
  • Oversee the company's safety data sheets (SDSs) via an online database and update departmental binders.
  • Research topics and write the monthly company safety newsletter.
  • Review details of the company safety strategy plan and assist in executing all safety initiatives.
  • Support the Safety Manager and ownership with safety initiatives.
  • Intervene when identifying any unsafe activities and/or operations.
  • Compile and analyze safety-related statistics.
  • Obtain certifications related to safety and the steel industry.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience preferred in heavy industrial construction environments.
  • Preferred Certifications: Safety Trained Supervisor of Construction (STSC), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or relevant.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Works well independently as well as within a team.
  • Skilled in the use of technology to complete tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field from a qualified college.
  • OSHA 30 Certified or ability to complete within 30 days of being hired.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
