About the Role As a tech lead, you will be responsible for developing our strategy in new directions to address potential harms from misalignment or significant mistakes. This will in practice include: Setting north star goals and milestones for new research directions, and developing challenging evaluations to track progress. Personally driving or leading research in new exploratory directions to demonstrate feasibility and scalability of the approaches. COPE OF ROLE The EHS Specialist III is a hands-on, individual contributor role responsible for leading and executing EH&S activities at the Warren location, ensuring the safety of all employees and the protection of the environment through compliance with all federal, state, local, and Corporate regulations and policies. The incumbent will partner closely with operations leaders, HR, and the Regal Business Systems (RBS) Manager to ensure program integration into all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a unionized environment and navigating the dynamics of union relations to ensure compliance and safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Drive a management-supported and employee-driven safety culture to proactively eliminate safety hazards through achievement of daily/monthly/annual safety goals. Achieve significant improvement to top quartile performance in EH&S KPIs, including incidents, near misses, risk scores, audit findings, etc. Ensure timely communication on critical metric and incident reporting, incident reduction activities, training, and employee involvement. Participate in front-end process engineering events focusing on risk assessment, evaluation of new processes for safety and ergonomic considerations, and review of facility layouts for potential EH&S issues. Actively lead, participate in, and sustain EH&S continuous improvement/kaizen activity. We are seeking a System Safety Engineer to support the application of safety assurance processes and methodology to a large, complex, safety-critical system.

The candidate must have professional system safety experience and be familiar with the system development and compliance processes contained in SAE ARP4754A.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and apply appropriate safety standards to system development processes and assessments of a safety critical system
  • Verify and validate system safety requirements and their traceability to software and hardware
  • Interface with project systems engineers and design engineers to prepare and review safety documentation and analyses, and report their status to project management
  • Support development of a System Safety Assessment (SSA) and its supporting analyses that include: Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), Common Cause Analyses (CCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
  • Conduct Safety Risk Management (SRM) activities that include hazard identification, assessment, mitigation and tracking.
  • Participate in the project's System Safety Working Group by way of discussions and presentations with the project customer
