Overview
Job Description
- Ensure workplace safety and compliance with MSHA regulations and company procedures.
- Develop, implement, and refine safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct safety training and education for employees.
- Perform risk assessments to proactively identify hazards.
- Inspect work environments, both underground and on the surface, for safety compliance.
- Investigate accidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Accompany MSHA officials during quarterly inspections and other site visits.
- Evaluate and implement control measures to minimize risk.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MSHA regulations and other federal, state, and local safety laws.
- Schedule and coordinate annual required physicals and hearing tests.
- Assist with weekly and monthly health & safety reporting.
- Keep accurate and organized records of training, inspections, investigations, and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with all departments to promote a strong safety culture.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required.
- Strong organizational skills ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in computer-based reporting, tracking, and written communication.
- Industry experience in mining or occupational safety preferred.
- MSHA Trainer Certification is an asset but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English (written and verbal).
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
- Strong proficiency in computer-based reporting, tracking, and written documentation.
- Direct experience in workplace safety and MSHA compliance.
- Prior industry experience in occupational health & safety.
- MSHA Trainer Certification.
