Join the power movement as Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer to join our team at CFS. The CFS Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of both the SPARC and future ARC projects; ambitious endeavors aimed at developing cutting-edge fusion power technology. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing safety strategies, workflows, and practices for both projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards. The CFS Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, review and update safety guidance, support the definition of and response to major transients, and implement safety standards for various activities within the SPARC and ARC programs. The Principal Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer provides technical support for engineering design, assembly, commissioning, and operations for the SPARC Project and future ARC Projects. Engineer focus areas include, but are not limited to Equipment Safety, Process Safety, and Operational Safety. This role supports overall EHS initiatives. What you'll do: Safe Design Provides technical support for safe engineering design, build, and operations of SPARC and ARC Ensures that safety is designed into systems and that controls are incorporated and remain effective through design changes Review and support updated guidance for redundancy, fault tolerance, and quality levels in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, with specific focus on the needs of safety critical systems Ensures that all design projects comply with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, those promulgated by the Occupational Safety THE OPPORTUNITY Since 2011, the Brownsville Community Justice Center (BCJC), an operating project of the Center, has worked to address systemic inequality, enhance public safety, and create opportunities for residents to lead in building a safer, more equitable community. The Neighborhood Safety Council (NSC) builds on BCJC’s decade of community-driven work, serving as a platform for residents, government partners, and community stakeholders to co-design and implement initiatives that improve safety, foster economic opportunity, and reduce reliance on the justice system. The Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in building and sustaining community participation in the NSC, with a focus on recruiting, developing and managing a Youth Leadership Council (YLC) that amplifies the voices of young people in shaping community safety strategies and executing public design projects. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Engagement Coordinator will design youth-focused leadership opportunities, facilitate skill-building workshops, and ensure that youth perspectives are integrated into the NSC’s priorities and decision-making processes. This position is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, community organizing, and leadership cultivation. Specific responsibilities will include: Ensure Fire Safety, Ensure that our buildings are meeting all fire safety codes. Resolve all fire violations. Schedule on-site meetings with all our fire safety consultants and contractors   Ensure OSHA Safety. Ensure all preventative maintenance logs are current including, HVAC, fire systems, electrical, extermination, etc   Along with Facilities Manager obtain and review all elevators preventive maintenance logs with all Supers and all elevator service contractors.  Ensure that we are 100% code compliant.   Develop a comprehensive building inspection schedule and protocol.  Inspect all buildings semiannually with the Facilities Manager.   Write reports and follow up as required   Encourage all Supers to register and attend the Super’s Technical Club.  Ensure all Supers obtain their NYCFD and other required Certificates.   Assist the Insurance Department as needed to ensure MVA and insurance and COVID protocols are all current   Maintain vans   Additional Responsibilities: Maintain high level of respect and care for tenants.
